You mean like a Spartacus moment? What would be even more amazing is if a dozen or so from the squad all turn up at a press conference and all the journos are mumbling about a good show of solidarity, standing behind their team-mate etc, then for one of them to announce that they are in fact all gay and the meeting is actually to out Cleverly as the only straight player in the entire squad.
Moyes would then release a statement saying that he's, "a fantastic young lad who is developing all the time. He will one day be a great gay. He never gives it less than 100%, and for that reason alone he will succeed at his dream of one day being gay enough to mix it up with the big boys" or something. maybe.
All the players taking it in turn to stand up and proclaim "I am the gay", just like Spartacus.
It would defeat the object tbh, I hope the person in question stands loud and proud. It's none of my business and I couldn't care less about a players sexuality. It will be used against them, but society will stand behind them.
If the Sun is now retracting the story, then it can only be because the player doesn't want it published. It's a shame if that's the case as Football does need it to bring the meathead supporters into the 21st century. and a lot of those meatheads read that pile of shite
