I have seen reference on FB via Topspurs but nobody on here has mentioned
that tonight is the 33rd anniversary of the 1981 FA Cup final win at the Old Wembley
vs Man City of course.

I was lucky to be there in the upper tier along with many many thousand of others who celebrated
a defining moment in Spurs history - After 8 long years of nothing and a dip into the old
2nd division along the way.

One of the days of my life - Never to be forgotten - until old age creeps up on me - I'm 58 now but will always be 25 years old when I remember that day.

I was there as well, it was the 100th FA Cup Final and i have still got the rosette.

My old man played that night at Wembley....he scored an absolute blinder with a tennis ball after the main event apparently.
The following morning his uniform was covered in mud and had a programme signed by KB.
Legend!

I was 16. Still have a scar on my head from jumping up and hitting the ceiling when the goal went in. Permanent reminder. With blood down my face it was a very happy moment!!

I was behind the goal that night. To this day I have never celebrated a goal like we did that goal. I swear I levitated. I mean genuinely levitated. It was a surreal and momentous occasion. When the FA cup seemed to matter so much more.

It was respected back then and considered as the best domestic cup competition in the World with the added cachet of going into the European "Cup Winners" Cup to be amongst other domestic cup winning teams of all shapes and sizes.

.. not 4th placed league finishers who get amongst the "Champions League" hoi polloi.

I was 21 and watched it on TV at work. I was fortunate enough to get a ticket for the replay in 82.

8 years of nothing and then 2 FA cup wins back to back! That of course was when the FA cup meant something.

Yes....spot on, i was behind the goal too,and the whole end went absolutely mental like no other goal celebration i have ever witnessed either.

It was the first time i ever saw us lift a trophy......it was and still is the most magical night i have experienced at a match.

I watched this cup final on a Betamax tape my granddad had at his house along with the QPR final replay and the nights of pretty much every game of the david pleat coventry fa cup final season - I didn't know what happened in any of these matches at the time so it was kinda like being there - well sorta just 6 years top late

Fantastic goal, can't actually think of a goal scored in a major final that contributed directly to the winning of it that can compare to it - van Basten in 88 is probably on a level due to a different kind of technique but still a truly amazing goal and any fan old enough to have seen it live, let alone be at Wembley for it are fortunate indeed

And the stadium is a sea of white . How good was glenn that night phew

It was difficult to see Steve Perryman lifting the cup because of the lights around the royal box (tv cameras)
but it was enough to enjoy.

Cheap skate go and buy the DVDs. I was playing semi pro football at the time and managed to get tickets for both games, and was able to take my Dad who had an angina attack when Villa scored so a moment in football that i will never forget. Dad was Ok by the way after an ambulance guy gave him some asprin, but i missed the cup being lifted.

I was also behind the goal that night. Some sick perverted bastard kept feeling me up. Having read through the thread I have my suspicions as to who that might have been :cautious:

It was standing behind the goal, i am very worried why you didn't move...

The old boy was a bit stiff.

As for moving - when that goal went in I was tossed and tossed - up and down and didn't know
me arse from me elbow. A giant roly poly melee !
