3 big bits of ITK on a Sunday! Like the idea of schneiderlin and Lovren, Sandro not so keen on selling if am honest. If they opt to do that pochettino will need to hit ground running as many fans see him as an idol already but I think schneiderlin is a good replacement and as said knows pochettino system

Just to add to my post above. Saints position is that they dont want to lose Lambert, Shaw, Lallana, Scheiderlin and Lovren all at the same time.

Because of this their tactic will be, if Shaw and Lallana go first, the asking price for Scheiderlin and Lovren will be inflated as they won't need the money due to the massive amounts received. The same tactic would be used vice versa, if Schneiderlin and Lovren go then they will dig their heels in with the other too and make it difficult for any to go.

This isn't to say that they won't lose all 5 but the board know the fans aren't happy about Poch coming to us and the prospect of losing all their best players. However, the sales will generate £70m+ and spent wisely they could still have a decent PL squad is their thinking.

None of the above is opinion. It's what I've been told from Saints.

Our side, been told that Sandro will likely go. We're holding out for more money (standard). Club are concerned about his knee injuries. And as we have lots of similarly powerful type players he is seen as surplus - obviously this is linked to wanting Shneiderlin who is technically better than Sandro and suits Pochettino's style.

At CB was told club are keen to keep Daws. Possibility of Vert going, was unhappy last summer when interest was shown and he wasn't allowed to go. This is dependant on a) his performances at WC to generate interest (the club interested last summer are buying another CB); b) the price as usual. A lot will depend on Kaboul situation too.

Heard we are monitoring Caulker situation. He has agreed terms with Liverpool but they are looking at alternative options. The info on him has come from his club not Spurs!

Are you verified with the mods? They don't take kindly to people posting info without being verified, even if you are "ITK".

Really, really hate the use of derogatory nicknames for anyone connected with Spurs, even if they don't surface anywhere aside from on these forums. It just comes across as so childish, petty and unnecessary, and using them (even if only on SC) can only ever bring negativity that we just don't need; there's never any upside to using them. I really don't rate Jake Livermore as a footballer, but what would me calling him "Liverless" or "Blundermore" achieve? Precisely nothing, that's what.

Think you're better than that, SS57, and this isn't a rant directed at you in particular: it's an issue that's been bothering me for a while ("Redknob", "Deadwood" etc: really, SC?) and yours just happened to be the post that broke my camel-like back.

Is it derogatory? You've never heard of Charles, Viscount Townshend (no relation), the 18th century statesman given the nickname 'Turnip' because of his interest in improving agricultural methods?

Because we had 13 of our 14 clean sheets when he was playing?

(Cue usual Dawson clichés.)
I don't really mind Dawson but he isn't suited for the type of defending we had under AVB or what I suspect we'll have under Pochettino. We all know Dawson lacks pace but hopefully Pochettino can improve Dawson when it comes to reading the game so he can compensate in that way if we play with a high line again.

There is some merit in what you say, and Bentaleb is young, with much opportunity to improve. However, Squawka stats show Schneiderlin ahead of him in every category.

To be fair, if they didn't you'd have to question why we were in for him.

May I ask..... What's so good about Schneiderlin and what type of player is he compared to our CMs?

Yes you may, but please, ask it in the players thread. That's why it's there, in order that people might discuss the merits or otherwise of players linked.

Would be quite happy for Schneiderlin to come in and Bentaleb to go on loan the other way. Doubt Southampton would see him as an adequate replacement though. Not having a go at Bentaleb but I don't think he's anywhere near the full package yet, and our first X1 isn't the place to be trying to develop him IMO.

Is he posting info on COYS still? One would assume they have some sort of process to filter out the sharlatans, but i've no idea wether they actually have or not.

That's fair enough, and the high line we played under AVB and Sherwood (why, Tim?) really highlighted his weaknesses. However, when you think back to how seriously rapid Ledley was pre-injury (and Gardner, although he wasn't quite so fast when he had to run and control the ball at the same time) and compare any of our current CBs, only Vlad can in any wise be called quick—and I don't see him giving Robben a 10-yard start and running him down.

It's very hard to think of another player whose merits are so ignored and whose demerits are so heavily stressed. (Yet in 2005-06 even the mildest criticism of our shiny new CB was liable to get you a flaming.) However, five very different managers have made him first choice, even if that has at times been by default. One of them actually wanted to sell him.

Do you wanna stick your stuff in the RO?

I'll speak to mods on this one first. Would rather not become relied upon like JJ etc who's every word is taken as gospel.

I still like to post my thoughts and opinions and so may be better to stick to the goat to allow me to do this.

Cool - that's why I thought I'd ask rather than just sticking it in there myself.

Thanks for sharing your info (y)

Vlad is going nowhere. Neither is Vertonghen and Kaboul has a year left.
