I'm not sure if Qatar could successfully sue anyone if it's proved that they corrupted FIFA officials? I'm sure they'd try but it would be ridiculous.

The defence would be it was always thus.

FIFA would be terrified.

Maybe they are hanging out blatter to dry. A rebirth like the Olympics.

Whether that will save billions in compensation waits to be seen.

How about if they could prove FIFA officials asked to be bribed and made it clear this was the only way they would get the World Cup?

Dodgy ground all round, plenty of other tournaments/finals/olympics have been awards this way and it seems that FIFA encourage officials to take the bribes - once you're in the club you can't speak out.

It would certainly be amusing if this is what brings FIFA down.. not expecting that to happen but it would be good.

FIFA are untouchable in the eyes of any government they have ever officially dealt with. Ever.

I don't know much about the law but my old Mum always told me that two wrongs don't make a right.

"But guv'nor, they asked for the bribes" wouldn't cut it if I was in charge but I wouldn't be surprised by anything that FIFA do or by how deep the corruption runs. I hope the whole shithouse goes up in flames and a new organization is formed.

The first step is getting Qatar 2022 cancelled and from there I hope it will just be a matter of time untill the cracks start to appear and people start talking. Hand out a few immunity deals to get dirt on the top brass and take them down! It appears I've been watching too many cop dramas but that's what I'd like to see.

This could ruin FIFA. I doubt it but it could.

If they re run the vote and Australia gets it, who are due and it would greatly energise a part of the globe to get serious about football (blatter dream) (( worked well in SA......))although personally I feel its too big an area for a wc. Much like Brazil and Marika. But that's an aside. Then Quataris would sue. Their lawyers would dig up all sorts of dodgy shit about Russia and other winners before and sue for losses over the binding contracts they signed with companies over building infrastructure. A lot of those companies are French and German owned. They wold also sue FIFA.

Were talking billions.

What might happen is FIFA might have to go bust.

I doubt it. They are pretty much untouchable.

At least the Indian caste system has one relevant meaning.

Every cloud.
Fifa wouldnt go bust well it shouldn't, its non profit organisation that makes billions. So unless they get sued of billions, I cant see it happening

On what grounds could Qatari sue, they would sue the members who took the payments not fifa since they would of been fired

The other FAs should sue FIFA, though. They spent fortunes on their bids when the result was already decided. Then the talk of moving it to winter when everyone bid on a summer tournament.

Maybe the spiral of litigation would be enough. That NY Times piece I posted has the idea of forming 2 governing bodies - one for the game and one for the rules. Having the same body deciding whether it broke the rules or not is like asking turkeys to vote for Christmas.

I think the FA's can sue for expenses

There is kind of that already, there is a body within UEFA(probably FIFA as well) that is separate and made up of half of our FA and some other UEFA members that decide the rules.

This was discussed on a referee special on sky 3 weeks back with Collina

I was clearing out an old cupboard and found a mini-book published by FFT in 2006 about FIFA corruption. It's crazy that things have dragged on this long already.

Also, while they are investigating the Qatar award they should investigate why Pitbull is allowed to have the official song.

This, too:

I hope that the world cup in Qatar is forced to go ahead. It will be amusing to watch millionaire footballers passing out left right and centre and the fat FIFA flunkies, Hugo Boss suits dripping with sweat, having coronaries in the stands as they present Saudi Arabia or Iran with the world cup trophy all because they didn't want to hand back their bungs.

I'd love to see Blatter, Platini and the crooked Qataris put a few shifts in building the new stadia with the migrant workers. It's only fair, then maybe take their passports and leave them there to rot.

Apparently all of you who oppose a Qatar World Cup are racist.

"There is a sort of storm against Fifa relating to the Qatar World Cup," Blatter said. "Sadly there's a great deal of discrimination and racism."

And we know how heavily blatter punishes racism, right....
Just beggars belief really.
I'd love the sponsors to question his accusations that have been levelled at them as surely in Blatter's eyes anyone who questions Qatar is racist?
Could you imagine if they pulled out and no one else wanted to fill the void? It'd be absolutely hilarious!
