I don't think it will matter too much if there is evidence of corruption or not... if the WC in Qatar goes ahead they will alienate large sections of the whole footballing fraternity... fans, players, the respective FA's... there's such a huge disregard from FIFA for what football actually is, and what a Football World Cup is about. I'd be amazed to see many fans going to Qatar for 4 weeks... it's just a further attempt to make the sport elitist in the same way F1 has become.

So the Uefa revolt against Blatter is on. Potential for Europe v rest of world split. Shame it took the media to force Uefa's hand.

Ahh, now that Europe vs ROTW split would be interesting. Blatter gets a lot of votes from Africa for bringing the world cup there and for extending FIFA's reach across the continent - funding etc - plus - let's face it - bribery is how African governments work, so there's not much wrong...

Senior UEFA officials want him out, as does the Dutch FA & David Gill.

Please, please let this come to something.

I have long thought that when a delegate is found guilty of taking bribes it shouldn't be just him that is punished, the country he represents should also be barred from FIFA voting and if two or more delegates from countries within a continental group are found to be taking bribes then that entire continental association should lose it's voting rights for the next world cup venues and presidential election.
That should ensure that bribery and corruption doesn't decide the outcome of these votes and will also ensure that the continental associations police their own national member delegates, lets be honest, if Japan, China and Korea are in the frame, which little state is going to allow it's delegate to yank that dragon's tail? Plus of course all those little state associations are Sepp Blatter's power base.
Just a thought.:sneaky:

Reading the spanish paper and it is hilarious how badly that one comment has fucked things up for Blatter.

Lets put this way, before the stand yesterday Blatter was using Qatar as proof that Platini did not deserve the FIFA presidency

(since Platini had the meeting with the royal family and got Qatar to start their european football channel service in France and brought PSG whilst hiring Platini's son, not to mention he has publicly been promoting the Qatar bid)

Since that show of solidarity, it has blown up in front of him.

Dutch FA and former ajax president Van Praag has told him not to stand next year, so has David Gil, Former Uefa president and it seems Greg Dyke has grown a set of ovaries and told blatter not to stand.

The thing is that Hyundai, Sony and Adidas are the ones demanding more transparency and hence why UEFA FA's are taking it more serious since its the one that gets more sponsorship than others.

Now the thing is Platini IMO is worse than Blatter so this is going potentially on a dangerous path

Though its not all bleak for Blatter, he has a film coming out this/next month about him with Tim Roth as the lead though he did commission it using FIFA money, which is a piss take

You just know Platini is the man they have in mind to replace Sepp, who is much, much worse. So lets hope Blatter gives UEFA the finger here. He's the lesser of 2 evils.

Maybe Platini is making a play on Blatter and is being funded by the Qataris? Votes aren't cheap.

Time for the top clubs in Europe to ditch FIFA and UEFA and do their own thing. That will soon force them to change or die

Any protestations from Brits will fall on deaf ears, as FIFA is deeply anti-British (or rather English). They almost expect our protestations as a matter of course, and duly ignore them. So we have one Dutch bloke voicing objections basically.

Wake me up when a few more non-Brits grow some and voice their objections.

NEWS: According to @ESPN_JorgeRamos, FIFA called up the US to be ready if Qatar gets stripped of the 2022 World Cup.

Here's the original tweet
Via @ESPN_JorgeRamos: ALERTA: #FIFA llamó a #USSoccer para que tenga listo un Comité Organizador para el 2022. No habría #Mundial en #Qatar

Apparently translates to:
Via @ESPN_JorgeRamos: alert: #FIFA called #USSoccer to have ready an organizing Committee for 2022. There would be no #Mundial in #Qatar

Makes sense as the US should have gotten it in the first place. Was the best place to handle it according to the people who went out and looked at each bid. Also, we held a flawless woman's world cup on like 6 months notice.

...And cue the bitching.

Personally I think there should be a rebidding process as well as a change in the bidding process to make it less susceptible to corruption.

Also I wouldnt want England to bid for 2022, it would smack of sour grapes from us. We have to show Fifa this isn't about sour grapes and about their corrupt nature

If the sole criteria was "the best place to handle it" then it'd go to the USA every time. However, there are other criteria that comes into play, such as the continent, when the country last held the event, whether it would appreciably improve the sport within that region, and as such I would have liked to have seen the Australians get it.........it's all moot though, as they really should open up the bidding process with full transparency and sack the whole bleeding board for being money grabbing scrotes!

The only problem I would have with the USA getting it is that you had it back in 1994. That said, I'd be happy with USA or Australia.

Probably was the one who blew the whistle and the investigation found out about it so they quickly banned him.

Apparently they have to restart the bidding process for the 2022 World Cup if this happens and one newspaper said they would have to restart the 2018 bidding process as well but I reckon that is highly doubtful.

I'm fairly certain they wouldn't just give it to the US- but I'd much rather it was there than Qatar- I might actually go :p
