Jurgen got it right today with player selection. Chandler is the better player, but he hasn't played enough with the other defenders. Beasley plays better with besler, and right back is Fabian Johnson's normal position. That's where he plays the most for hoffenheim and he's right footed (though still dang good with his left). As Jurgen said, all the talk about formations is silly. He simply picked the players he thinks best fit, irregardless of shape and put them on. We are just going to be lopsided in the midfield. Also, Beckerman might be the worst player on the pitch, but he plays an important role that no one else in the 23 can play. Mix is better off the bench, as he's shown time and time again.

His role is to sit right in front of the defense and break up the play. Jones could theoretically do that, but he doesn't. He constantly gets forward. Bradley could aslo do it, but that is a waste of his best quality. Cameron could do it, but lets be honest he's the best cb we've got. Edu is the only other player in the pool that could have replaced beckerman. Beckerman is in the team to allow Bradley and Jones to be better players, as seen by the Mexico and Nigeria games. So yes he's the least talented player in the squad, but he is also a necessary evil.
