you say lamela should start, presumably based on his performances in pre-season so far, but if we're being objective about ndombele and not looking at him through new signing spectacles then he can't be starting against villa unless he shows a massive improvement in his conditioning today.

More fair to bring him on in the second half. No way he will last a full game.

Possesion wise it has a strong link through the middle with both cb's, cm's and kane. All players that move a football forwards with accuracy. Son and mouras pace playing reasonably narrowly off kane.

So we absolutely scrapped into 4th last year by the skin of our teeth due to lack of squad depth and in particular no second striker to replace kane. Great to see we have made a real effort in improving the squad this year.
