Not sure why you disagree with me @Romulus - fairly obvious that this tour is a money spinning exercise.

They all are!

I think we can take one thing as certain from the US tour. A worryingly large number of our fans have no idea that a pre-season friendly is exactly two steps up from a kick about with your mates.

It's about fitness, about bedding in a system, it's about being allowed to make mistakes, experiment and lastly, not give a shit about the score, because quite honestly, there's literally no reason to win a friendly match. There's every reason to play them and winning is the very last one.

From the players on this tour this would be my starting 11 if we had a premier league match tomorrow-
Friedel

Naughton Kaboul Fryers Rose

Capoue Holtby

Lennon Eriksen Lamela

Soldado

Team with everyone here and fully fit-
Lloris

Walker Kaboul Vertonghen Rose

Capoue Dembele

Lamela Eriksen Townsend

Adebayor

That team fully fit and confident would really excite me. I know many would disagree with Rose over Davies but I think the majority of the time we play against teams we should be beating and Rose is better going forward. I also think he was made a scapegoat very unfairly last season (the whole team were poor in general) and is a pretty decent defender when he's fully fit and confident. We're very lucky to have him and Davies competing for a place in the team!

HAHA got as far as fryers in the starting 11 and stopped reading, seriously

Soldado's been brilliant so far in pre-season. That chest pass then through ball for Lennon last night was great.
If he continues to contribute in build up and starts getting goals as well we're going to have a very useful player on our hands.

Even if he's not scoring goals he's got the intelligence to be able to play others in. It's something he's got in his locker that Adebayor hasn't.

Watched all three games as they were shown. Lamela appeared to be the only player who has lifted his level since last season and really he appears our main hope this time. He tended to play with his head up...had a good first touch and looked capable of unlocking defences on the areas edge. Lennon and Townsend looked generally pretty one dimensional apart from their goals. I know that there is still a month of preparation left but this 'world cup less' element were just willing not impressive. Strangely Naughton seemed one of the most switched on while Holtby looked to buzz like a decent Championship level player....still not up to it IMO. I feel that we will bring in a new centre back and will be surprised if Ade Soldado and Harry Kane make up our strikeforce. Obviously too soon to judge Davies but jog trotting Danny Rose instills no confidence.
Of the players on tour I'd guess that Lamela Eriksen Davies Soldado and probably Walker have most hope of being starters in our side.
............Lloris
Walker Vert New Davies
Dembele Eriksen Bentaleb
..... Lennon Lamela
..........Soldado

All a bit lightweight but I think this bloke can add 20% to this group of players

from what i say last night it reminded me abit of last season, too many fancy flicks and unsafe passes in wrong areas of the pitch, capoue had a good game but we still lack a player to dictate play for me, thought we looked more direct once falque came on, townsend was poor, lost count of the times he passing was off.

Bentaleb ahead of capoue, who was one of our best players on tour? Can't see that.
Vert as CBr, while his position in central defence is CBl, being left footed?

Has Townsend got slower since the start of last season or is just me? Looks like he's chugging along rather than gliding like he did last year.

Made me laugh during the World Cup when he was a pundit and he reckoned he'd have Robben in a race?!!!

My thoughts on the game. It was the flattest of all three matches on tour. Still, Lamela was a bright spot and is clearly a clever player thinking two or three passes ahead - not all our players do that.

Soldado did well for Lennon's goal and it showed his intelligence - but again, there's still too many of our players who don't recognise his early movement.

Thought Mason was also a highlight. I know it's only pre season but he's shone and been noticeable on the pitch whereas Carroll didn't do enough for me in the same role

Expect a new centre back to come in but you are right Vert likely to be left of the two....Capoue looked frighteningly one paced even in a friendly...only speculative opinion but I expect Porch to love the well balance Bentaleb

I'm really struggling with the logic of bringing Fredericks on to play RB, moving our RB to LB and our LB to LCB.
True story,
Ben Davies was earmarked earlier on to become a left centre back only reason he hasn't played there more is concerns over his height he's quite good there played a lot there for Swansea's youth. Think poch just wanted to try it

Lennon has done pretty well on this tour, although some will struggle to accept that lol

He's been out for a long time, probably a mixture of fitness and confidence. His last season started so well then nose dived dramatically, probably knocked his confidence and he got injured at the worst time.
