I'd be ok passing on Fonte simply as he is about to enter the twilight of his career.....he is obviously fully capable of functioning in Poch's system, but would rather we chase someone a bit younger that can grow into the system than someone who is tailing off, plus i could have sworn Fonte was looking locked to go to Cardiff.

If Sandro and Dembele was a cm pairing which could be relied on to be fit every week, AVB would probably still be in a job. But that isn't the case.

Well yes.....i should have said in addition to Dier, say someone who is a bit more experienced than Dier but not quite as aged as Fonte.

So transfer business so far looking like:-

Out: Sigurdsson, Livermore, Falque - £22m
In: Davies, Vorm, Dier - £18m

Decent business and still around £4m net gain (£10m+ if you included Defoe from February)

Should have it well within us to buy Schneiderlin, a first choice CB and a LW IMO, especially with further sales to come...

Was hoping the next new contract would be Vertonghen as he already said he's signing one.

The reaction to it on twitter is embarrassing. Spurs fans on twitter should be ashamed of themselves.

I find it to be good news. Provides good competition to davies, and was very good before injury. If he has a good year next year, we could probably sell him for a healthy amount.

Rose signing is good news. Means we won't be forced to play Vertonghen or Naughton out of position simply due to one injury.

We need two specialist left backs.
