Rose signing is good news. Means we won't be forced to play Vertonghen or Naughton out of position simply due to one injury.

We need two specialist left backs.
In all seriousness, it is good news.
Poch must have seen enough in Rose to agree to the deal, and hopefully see's something in Rose that he can work with.

Are you on a wind-up?

If Sandro and Dembele was a cm pairing which could be relied on to be fit every week, AVB would probably still be in a job. But that isn't the case.
It was our best CM pairing, though! Ashame they didnt stay fit. AVB is gone because he was way too stubborn tactically. Not because he rarely had his best CM pairing.

Also;

Group stages of Europa and initial rounds of the league cup allowing us to rest players.

Also a more advanced lb than Davies that may allow attacking tactical shifts during the game or changing to wing backs etc if needed....

Not a starting player, but will be important as a squad player...

I'm glad rose's future is sorted. Lb has been a problem position for too long. 2 young left backs now who will only get better under poch's guidance.

Guess talks with Poch or something must have changed the circumstances from the ITK of him kicking up a fuss/being unhappy and wanting out..........
Poch said after signing Davies that he wanted Rose to stay and thinks they can both push each other and compete. The more I think about it, the Swansea trade(it was more of a trade, really) of siggy plus 3-5m for davies and vorm was sneaky a fantastic piece of business.

I'm just surprised the Rose contract statement wasn't followed by a "and has joined (insert club here) on a season-long loan"

Thought he wasn't a happy bunny.
What an insane idea I've just had, what about if Spurs fans support Danny Rose. A player who along with 90% of the squad had a piss poor season in what was a tactical shambles. I'm backing Pochettino to improve many players and Rose falls under that category. Yes he's very unlikely to be a world beater but it does mean Vertonghen won't have to play a minute at LB.

Wont happen. He and Davies will compete. In fact, I think the next think you'll hear about concerning fullbacks is a Naughton transfer.

Man City do it with Clichy & Kolharov, there will be plenty of games for both I would have thought, and kind of disproves the theory that Rose wasn`t up for fighting for his place.

@SpursOfficial: We are delighted to announce that Danny Rose has committed his future to the Club with the signing of a new five-year contract.

First response on twitter feed is:
@Yonny1975: @SpursOfficial oh fuck! No!

:wtf:

Only Danny Rose could be thick enough to sign a 5 year contract after seeing his team sign a new starting leftback.
Bit unfair considering the grief he was being given for reportedly throwing his toys out of the pram when we signed BD. We can't have it both ways. If he's childish for wanting to leave when BD is signed then credit to him for staying and fighting for a place in the team. He's a young lad with the chance to learn from his mistakes.

Competition (from Davies) and direction (from Poch) is exactly what Rose needs!

No it's not, good news would be him being replaced by a decent lb to compete with Davies

Was hoping the next new contract would be Vertonghen as he already said he's signing one.

The reaction to it on twitter is embarrassing. Spurs fans on twitter should be ashamed of themselves.

I find it to be good news. Provides good competition to davies, and was very good before injury. If he has a good year next year, we could probably sell him for a healthy amount.

Indeed, but it would be a first. Most of our fans have trouble thinking let alone anything else.

Good news on Rose as long as he is willing to fight for his place and not bring negative energy around the team if Davies gets a run of games in. You won't find a lot of better second choice LB's in the league.
