2 things:
1. it could just be to call southampton's bluff on schneiderlin
2. this makes me think Sandro is 100% going. but we won't sell him until we have a replacement lined up.

I don't think there are many people who "want" to get rid of Sandro- they just feel that Schneiderlin would be a better option if he did sign and they would think it would be most appropriate for Sandro to be sold if it did happen.
But Rodwell over Sandro? Fuck off...

Perhaps, its one of our ever popular in transfer windows 'curve ball', to try and give Southampton the impression we are moving our interest on, leaving them in the very awkward position of having a player who doesnt want to play for them...shaving a few quid off Schneiderlins transfer fee...

I'd have though Southampton would be more likely in for him to replace Schneiderlin.
he's been linked with Sunderland & WBA recently; think he's got a bit to prove before he gets a move to a bigger club again....

I don't know what Rodwell does well (pardon the pun) - we just sold Livermore, we don't need to replace him with another "not quite savvy enough to be a defender, not quite skilful enough to be a midfielder" type.

You left out constantly injured and never yet lived up to the early potential
How much his failure to achieve that potential has been down to injuries is difficult to say

I hope that isn't true.
Rodwell.....has some talent when healthy....rarely seems to be healthy.
Still have no idea how he would be a replacement for Schneiderlin or why we wouldn't just hang onto Sandro rather than moving for Rodwell.

Thought about it now.
We'd surely not go for Rodwell. Potential or not he's just at the wrong end of the curve, injuries, no recent form. The signings we are making are smarter than that, and there's no reason in a huge market for us to be 'gambling' on types like Rodwell.; especially in a position we have options in.

Unless we have bid on Southampton's behalf this would be an incredibly disappointing signing.
We have more than enough depth in CM, Schneiderlin is just an exceptional case...
