Has anyone seen the standard article saying that an unnamed israeli property tycoon was also interested in buying us...

Like who? Doesn't seem that Poch is spoilt for choice to me.
Lloris, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Chiriches, Dier, Fazio, Capoue, Stambouli, Soldado and Adebayor are all currently captains, or have been captains in the past.

No - I've just watched Herts, Portsmouth, Villa, United, Liverpool (Hicks-Gillett), City (Shinawatra), Southampton (Liebherr jnr) and all the other clubs where it has gone badly wrong.

Asset stripping is the only way to make money in football. Investment doesn't pay back.

Thanks but no yanks
Spurs value is not in its assets, but in its potential growth, particularly when the new owners will be paying a premium to acquire those assets.

Again, you are not looking at this properly to appreciate the motivation behind an acquisition at this time.

That a serious bid is on the table.

I think we've peaked under ENIC. We've established ourselves as a 'just outside CL places' team....have a consistent public profile in Europe, a track record of finding and selling some of the best players in Europe...and have most of the ingredients in place for setting up a new stadium, without being committed to a particular stadium sponsor. I'm pretty sure there has never been a time to sell the club (well...with hindsight I guess January 2012 would have been ENIC's peak time).

This potential bid just doesn't seem very 'Spursy' to me. More likely we'll tell them to fuck off (if it's even a legitimate bid), drop way off the top teams, and end up selling to some mediocre but solid option after trying to be too clever for our own good.
Funnily enough, going on this summer, this seems extremely 'Spursy'.

Think about it, how many things have come out of the blue these last few months? The Fazio, Dier, Yedlin and Stambouli deals all came out of nowhere and were completely unexpected.

The same has happened here. No one expected this.

Furthermore, I created the Vorm, Yedlin, Fazio and Stambouli threads in the transfer forums and those all happened

The thing I'm worried about here (especially if Levy goes as well), is that we might start selling to rivals when they want one of our big players :nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting:

Haofai ‏@haofai 9h
Cain Hoy was the name of Harry Guggenheim's timber plantation & the thoroughbred horse stable (Cain Hoy Stables) which were ridiculously 1/3
Haofai ‏@haofai 9h
successful and made the Guggenheim's $$$. By taking the name "Cain Hoy" they are keeping the connection to Guggenheim & referencing 2/3
Haofai ‏@haofai 9h
the Guggenheim's family investment in Sport. This could be spectacular for #THFC #COYS 3/3

Even if it is a media stunt from Cain Hoy, reality is we would definitely benefit from such media stunt. I mean, we need stadium investment and stadium naming rights - such talks in press will only increase the profile of the club. So, even if deal doesn't materialise, I guess it could help us

i know of these guys...friends of friends...they dont do media stunts

So let me get this right; individuals from Guggenheim, a company with a track record in investing in sports and media, have created a separate company Cain Hoy? A day after they were created, Cain Hoy make a public declaration that they wish to purchase Spurs.

I don't have any experience in finance or the like, but doesn't this look pretty nailed on? The experienced guys from Guggenheim wouldn't create a company and announce that they want to buy Spurs, if they weren't 99% sure that they (i) had the money to do so and (ii) their bid would be accepted.

Or are there some glaring facts that I'm missing?

Soldado can't get in the side, Chriches hardly played, Dier just a young kid who has got off to a good start but isn't a guaranteed starter, Stambouli and Fazio haven't played a game yet, Kaboul people have been giving him stick for his performances a lot of people thought he would be sold, he is Verts didn't perform very well last seasn and wants to leave a sicking ship, Lloris ok but not really ideal to have a goal keeper as leader Capoue I haven't seen anything from him to suggest he is captain material, I certainly didn't see it against Liverpool.

And as for Adebayor.....

The other risk, especially with American owners, is that they'll move us to Crawley (statistically the part of the country with the largest untapped potential fanbase) and rebrand us the London Avengers or something.

sure and blow up a brand that represents a significant part of the value they have invested in.....dude you need to go back to business school :)

Just because someone hasn't played for us, or been with us long has no impact on if they are leaders, same with how well they have been playing.

Leadership is totally different qualities to talent.

Also for the video, this again how no impact on leadership, moving out the way once for a free kick is stupid, but doesn't mean he isn't a leader.

Todd Boehly is in charge. He is President of Guggenheim and outbid Kronke for LA Dodgers. He has not resigned from Guggenheim. Silverman is vice chairman of asset management in Guggenheim, he has also not resigned from Guggenheim.

They are Guggenheim.

I've heard it all before from Herts fans. With Romanov they were going to finally break the dominance of the Glasgow clubs...

Only 2 of these things have ever worked out well - Chelsea and City. All the rest have been for the worse. But even well means doping the club and hollow success.

FFP now means they can't throw money at the club anyway. The whole purpose of FFP is to protect the existing elite and prevent any new money clubs being able to challenge.

I wouldn't worry too much, its not like our players showcased their talent last season.

And now look where hearts are. Sold off all the good players ( bringing in youth which is good though ) and in the championship. So this is a good example of how a big money take over can go tits up.

well yeah it does how can someone be a captain for the team when they arent on the pitch playing because they've been dropped or injured? How is going to give someone a bollocking for being out of position when he is playing shit himself? Someone like stamboli as captain he barely knows his team mates he hasn't even kicked a ball doesn't know if he will be a regular starter he can't be captain. I think players would resent it.

Facts are Spurs have spoken to CH regarding finance "of the stadium".

Spurs say there is "no discussion about a takeover".

CH are thinking about maybe making a bid.

The rest is media speculation and as we know the media and fact do not make good bedfellows.

West Ham IMHO would be a far cheaper and better bet for a takeover among the London clubs.
They also come with a chain of sex shop thrown in......what's not to like?
