V Besiktas:

Vorm
Naughton Fazio Dier Davies
Stambouli Mason
Lamela Kane Townsend
Soldado

On the premise that some of the above are also auditioning to start v Southampton, v Southampton:

Lloris
Naughton Kaboul Vertonghen Rose
Capoue Mason
Lamela Kaneriksen Chadli
Soldadebayor

I really like the concept; use the Europa league to experiment with different lineups. In particular I like your am3 in the EL, wouldn't have thought of it myself, but that's what I'd go for!

As for line up, I think we need to win this game. I'm sick, already, of seeing Townsend Paulinho Lennon failing to produce and think we need to change that. I'd give Eriksen a game tonight. He needs a run of games to find some form. I'd be tempted to play Lamela too. I think he and Soldado are the only two on the same wavelength and could blossom as a partnership. Give them an hour together tonight and play the two of them Sunday.

Vorm
Dier Fazio Chiriches Davies
Stambouli Mason
Lamela Eriksen Lennon
Soldado

Plenty of intelligent attacking threat to supply Soldado.

Lamela and Mason seem to be the key to getting us moving the ball quicker at the moment. Not a bad shout at all.

Yeah that's nice, I'd love to see that. Having said that I'd want Mason to start vs Southampton on Sunday so I'd possibly go for Dembele tonight, and tell the fucker to pass forwards now and again. It can't be that hard to make them do it!

Poch will make Bobby play in front of The Braindead Boys again though I suspect.

Think we should keep the spine consistent as much as possible with speed/flair players like Lamela, Chadli, Townsend, Erikisen, Lennon rotating.

I would like Lamela and Soldado to play tonight for 60 odd mins then start again on Sunday, I really want to see if their seeming understanding of one another can develop further. Saying that, Im sure Poch will probably go with a similar team to the one he played last time inEuropa so I am prepared for at least 70 odd mins void of creativity.

I don't think Capoue is fit, hence Stambouli coming off early as he'll be needed at the weekend.

Lloris;
Naughton, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Rose;
Stambouli, Mason;
Lamela, Eriksen, Chadli;
Soldado.

Vorm, Dier, Davies, Bentaleb, Dembele, Townsend, Kane.

If Soldado doesn't start against Southampton I'm....probably going to do nothing.

But I will be cross! mark my words :pompous:

I want Soldado to start in front of our preferred midfield, but would completely understand if Kane got the nod. I really do rate Ade as a striker, but he has done nothing recently to justify the strikers spot.

--------------------Lloris
Naughton---Kaboul---Vertonghen---Rose
----------Capoue--------Stambouli

-------------------Mason
---Lamela-----------------------Chadli
-------------------Soldado

I think with Capoue sitting deeper than Stambouli and being the more defensive wethen have the components to press effectively with Stambo, Mason, Lamela and Soldado (it is about understanding of when to press and as a team rather than blind running). Stambouli, as well as Capoue, have the ability to pass the ball in to feet quickly and with Mason given a roaming role in front of them and Lamela, Chadli, and Soldado interchanging I believe there would be fluidity and attacking options.

It might be putting a lot of pressure on Mson, but I believe he has the ability to roam and find space for himself to receive the bal and get the attacks going through Lamela and Chadli.

Given the passing ability of both CMs and Stamboulis willingness to press and get forward I don't see it as too defensive.

We then have Eriksen on the bench to change things round if needed, hopefully score a free-kick and kick on for the season.....

You must absolutely desperate if you firmly believe Soldado is the answer to all our problems

Well, that's not what he said at all, is it?

I'd like to see Soldado start and have him play in front of a midfield of Lamela and Erickson. We saw some real glimpses of quality from those 3 in pre-season and like many on here I'd like to see if it were transferable to the league.

Ade's done little. Soldado would be worth a punt at least.

Same team as the one that played the NLD, except Soldado in for Ade.

We spent a lot of money on this guy, he ain't getting any younger, and he's not been given a proper run in the first eleven yet.

Lets see once and for all if that makes the difference. Given him a run of 6 league starts and see what happens, at least that. If he still isn't showing signs of taking off we can accept it and look to move him on. But bloody hell, lets at least see if he can do it and I'm pretty confident he can if gets the minutes with infinitely better service.

At the very least I hope we see Kane if Soldado doesn't start.

Going to be disappointed if its Adebayor. Even if he plays better what's the point? Its just a complete lottery as to what Adebayor turns up next week, and the week after that.
