I think it's a desperately important game-psychologically- for spurs because of the tightness of the table. Win, and, as others have pointed out, we're back in the mix for the European places. Lose, we slip to 15th (at best) and Poch is really looking like a lame duck appointment, at least in the eyes of the not-wes.
I have to say, though, I'm not optimistic that we will 'smash' them as someone said- we don't really look capable of smashing anybody. Although Villa are bad, the stats suggest that we are too- 5 points in the last 7 games (8 if we lose) is bang-on relegation form.
Poch needs to start with the right team, which means he has the bite the bullet with Adebayor. TBH I don't see why we can't play two up-front (Kane and Soldado) against a nervy, Delph-less Villa side (but we won't).

Newcastle are showing what a good win can do for confidence. Since beating us last week they have looked a different team fearing no one. We have too much fear in the way we set up and play. Southampton I would suggest are doing so well because they seem to play with no fear. Is the pressure for places in the team proving counter productive by not giving players the confidence to go and play when they think any mistake and they will be dropped? No idea but just trying to get my head around our form

You do realise that this could just be the most quoted post by 5:45pm tomorrow?

I hope we do, a win by 3 goals puts us ahead of Liverpool.

Those two 2-1 games in 2010, I'll never forget VDV's goals in those games. The 2nd at home where he let the ball roll across his body and smashed it in (followed by a nana kiss) was the moment I knew we had a world class player in our ranks.

The 2nd goal in the away game symbolised everything that was brilliant about us back then with an incredible counter attack with Bale unstoppable and a beautiful finish from VDV.

I'm truly worried that I'll never see us like that again :(

Roy Keane will have them fired up for this. No doubt he'll be telling them that we're there for the taking, low on confidence, weak and brittle and to get stuck in and kick us. We get through the first 20 minutes and we'll win. But we'll need to every one 100% up for this or we could be in trouble.

Yeah right! The players couldn't care less.

What a team we had and what football we played back then.

Wow. Not only have Villa not scored in their last 5, they've also conceded 13. They have also not scored in their last 5 against us, conceding 15.

Easy. :cautious:

And that away game was with 10 men as JD got sent off early on.
I think I'll watch the game tomorrow in the same pub as then but with less optimism.

I think Roy keane is all hot air. He is all about the hard man image. Can't remember any outstanding football. As a coach I can't remember what he has achieved either. Just think that he is smart in using the media.
