No surprise from Steve Bruce there. Why didn't the interviewer ask him about Livermore staying on the pitch? Then intimating we're cheats cos we did the same at Villa. It's often the case that people whose surnames are also first names are ****s. Like Steve Bruce & John Terry. And my mate Barry Scott. ****s.

:bored: I think you have the wrong person BC, I have never said that, and if you read what I actually wrote I said that I agree Lennon isnt our saviour but pace helps.

Fair enough. I don't think he was bad when he came on, but I didn't agree with Eriksen being moved back and once Lennon started playing as the No.10 instead of providing a wide option he became thoroughly pointless IMO.

Let's hope 'the ref' gets in on the ratings thread today...second three points he's got us in the last few weeks. Fingers crossed he makes his loan move permanent.

Why wasn't that a sending off? How is it different to Beckham against the Argies?
He actually give a little dig with the foot and lashed out with his hand.

Instant red... But it is Spurs and the rules always change when it is Spurs.

Just like picking up on and questioning Soldado being in offside position for the goal... Funny, where were they complaining at ManC first goal when fat frank was offside...

Hypocrites if you ask me...

Am dead happy with 3 points but we can't gloss over the fact we are fucking awful

We can't look at the fact we are 2 points off 4th and think everything in the garden is rosy, it is far from it

Soldado needs to be sold at the first opportunity

Stevie Wonder must be working as a scout for us in between albums, Fazio? Wtf

Lamela should be kept in a cabinet with strict instructions to only break glass in event of a Europe game

Lennon should be starting

Eriksen should be playing in the middle as our playmaker

First time I've cheered at a Spurs goal like that since the Bale days.

Doesn't change the fact that we were piss-poor across the pitch until they went down to ten men. Still think most of this squad isn't even remotely good enough, and that Pochettino is on borrowed time.

I thought lamela played well today
I thought he was poor

Weak on the ball and unable to beat a man when he tried a dribble

Failed to create any real chances and his shooting was so poor he was never going to score

He had so much space when they went down to 10 men that he looked ok - but in reality during that time he should have been running the show the way Erkisen was

I am one of his biggest fans and I want as much as anyone for him to be a success but I think to say he played well today is clutching at straws because against a 10 man Hull team he should have done so much better

Steve Bruce lambasting Vertonghen for how he went down. What the fuck?

He had his legs swept and was tripped over, he never rolled about clutching his face in tears.

Shut up Steve Bruce you deflated balloon faced, softly spoken, brummie tosser

I thought Bruce was a geordie?

Lamela: 92% pass accuracy. 2 chances created. 8/12 successful take ons. 4 shots. Good performance from Erik.

Sorry mate, but Lamela didn't have a great game. Regardless of what the stats say, there were several occasions around the box where he could have played someone in but went for glory / held on to the ball. He needs to start releasing the ball quicker and playing with his head up

Now I've seen the sending off properly - I don't know what Coleman, Carragher and co are on about. He kicks an opposition player. Verts isn't even looking at Ramirez. He catches Verts below the knee - how the fahook do they know that Verts made the most of it. How do they know that wasn't enough to knock him down. Verts doesn't roll around, he doesn't appeal to the officials, he looks at Ramirez and lifts his hands as if to say WTF are you doing. They mentioned the Beckham red in the World Cup, the difference there is that Beckham doesn't kick out anywhere near as hard as Ramirez, and he makes contact, softly against the hard part of Simeone's leg - it was nowhere near hard enough or in a position to knock him down.

What are we even arguing about here - Livermore and Thudd should have been sent off and, afaiac, Ramires should have been sent off too. And we, and the media are arguing that Ramires might have been a bit soft and Verts might have made more of it than he did (neither of which is true, anyway).

And from what I can see, all Verts does is moves his foot a bit with his hand as he goes past, and not in an aggressive way, just to stop the studs scraping against his leg.

THIS!

Laughable defence put up by Bruce, using the old tropes: not that kinda guy; it's not violent; no one else saw it; spoilt the spectacle. DIdn't say anything about Livermore's assault on Mason's ankle, though.

Lamela was better than Eriksen in the first half.

He also took on a man 8 times successfully out of 12 attempts. Created 2 scoring chances. And has a passing accuracy of 92%.

You can't determine a whole performance by stats but I find the perception that he loses the ball all the time as odd personally.

He still does silly things, makes careless passes in dangerous areas, one half decent run out at RB won't change that.

I thought the vlad sub was the start of the turn around in the game, he may be weaker than dier at RB but the defence as a whole looked better.

Add to that the width Lennon gave the whole team started to look a lot better.

I hope we stay 4-4-2 why the players learn pooch's style better and then start tweaking the formation.

This game was a bit of a nail biter and once Hull went ahead through Livermore I genuinely thought they might score another and send us back down the motorway frustrated once again. However the fates were with us as once Ramirez was sent off the game changed and we finally looked like we were interested in coming away with a win.
There honestly wasn't a Spurs player out there today, whilst we were 11 against 11, who I felt could swing the game in our favour however apart from Ramirez's brain fart both the Hudd and Livermore could both have been easily sent off for reckless challenges. Not an inspiring win but a very welcome three points.
