As someone posted previously I remember the pain and hurt of Port Vale in the FA Cup, A tonking by Bolton Wanderers in the league, Everton destroying us in a cup semi and other wallopings that go hand in hand with us through the 90s and 2000s while all the other clubs enjoy rinsing us and who can blame them. This morning I'm waking up with sheer anger at how bad we were and with the horrible realisation that this same feeling is attached to those mentioned one of complete gloom.

Say goodbye to Son and Kane they honestly don't deserve to be on this sinking ship. It also needs ENIC to sell up, Levy's last roll of the dice with Mourinho and its spectacularly failed just do the honourable thing, walkaway. I appreciate he's built state of the art facilities and a brand new stadium but without a team unit in there we are being so woefully exposed. We are saddled with one of the highest debts in world football and without a spot in Europe next year the biggest danger is we could quite easily sink without a trace. Another overhaul, another drama and another Tottenham. Us as fans deserve the bare minimum which is fight for the shirt, fight for each other and an all as one strong & positive mentality. Instead we are so painfully mistreated it saps your faith to breaking point after this it may well have been reached.

Massive problems at the club, looks like we have a really nice new home but the furniture in it is crap. We cant even replace the furniture in it easily anymore because of lockdown and the pandemic as people wont want to spend as much anymore.

Problem a: 6 or 7 players with poor attitude and average ability. Is it realistic to shift them in the summer during a pandemic?

Answer is no

Problem b) replace manager, hope for the best with the new one.

The most realistic answer and option.

We wont get better owners and chairmen than the ones we currently have. I cant see anyone wanting to spend over a billion on a football club during the pandemic.

For gods sake this manager is a yesterday man and please dont tell me all our players are crap we are like a rudderless ship .
No system no patterns of play its all left to individual brilliance and if that fails as tonight there is nothing to fall back on .
It is going to be interesting listening to Jose explaining this one . Enough is enough we must move on to a more modern thinking manager .

A rudderless ship ship can at least stay afloat.

We have a rudder and, in Jose Mourinho, we have a captain who's in control of steering that rudder.

Unfortunately for us, he's the reincarnation of Captain E.J. Smith.

For me it's, as a team we should be professional- Under Jose it's difficult (professionally we must do what we are told and get on with it) - Some players are not adhering to Jose instruction (professionally they should because its effecting everyone else in the team)-Some players are being disruptive and not giving 100% (unprofessional attitude and its not good enough).

There may be an element of criticism towards Jose but there is no other choice other than get on with it. For a keeper , maybe he can't appreciate the changes Jose are asking the players to make. Running around as Kane and Son do must be demoralising for them. Hugos game stays the same, so it's easy to accept Jose's changes..

The attitude was clearly poor in the first half so why not make a couple of changes at half time and read the riot act to the rest of them??
In EL, he has the benefit of additional subs so didn't need to be cautious.

I actually like the Mourinho who subbed 2 at Chelsea before h-t and did the same with Dier against Olympiakos, it sends a message.
Instead he's too passive, makes like for like subs and expects it to all be ok.

There were serious alarm bells from the first whistle yesterday and the man in charge should've done something about it.

Of course it goes deeper than this but his in-game management is non-existent and that's a big, big problem for a top-level manager.

If its any comfort, we would have had a pretty tough run, Villarreal in the quarters, Arsenal in the semis and potentially United in the final.

I hope these players are strapped into chairs and forced to watch Arsenal walk to the final Clockwork Orange style.

Yet again I think the setup was wrong. If you're going to try to defend a 2 goal lead, FFS start with a midfield that isn't full of gaps. Just like v Arsenal and countless other games Mourinho starts not only with a pivot midfield, but a fucking awful one in Sissoko/Winks. The result is, we get comprehensively pumped in the middle of the pitch, can't win a tackle or a second ball for love nor money, and have a hugely talented front line who don't get a sniff. I said at the time losing Hojbjerg for this was very bad but loads of people told me it was in fact good because he'd be available for the next round! I can't think of a single game against all but the most inept opponents where we've looked solid with a CM2 but Mourinho keeps on and on with it like it's suddenly going to come good. Not only that, he totally fails to identify it during a game or do anything about it. Zagreb just tore into us when they got a sniff, and by the time changes were made the game was up. A huge part of last night was on Mourinho and his fucking pivot obsession.

He actually said something similar in the argument with Son on "All or nothing" - everyweek, not coming back, not helping... This was the culmination of all that. He is truely heartbroken and soooo pissed. He's gone in the summer for sure. Enough is enough.

Absolutely right. I've made the same point a few times on other threads; his tactical inflexibility is shocking for a supposed top-level coach.
Mix in poor game-management and I don't know what we're getting for our dollar right now.
Then sticking Lo Celso out on the left of the 3 behind Kane made no sense either. Central midfield players lose most of their effectiveness when played out wide; only a handful (Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes spring to mind) can drift out and affect the game. Blimey, Sven Goran Erikssen tried it all those years ago with Scholes!!

The one thing I'm constantly amazed by is the apparent arrogance both the players and club show the Europa League. It seems they genuinely see it as beneath them and this has been a constant for a number of years now under different managers. We've never given it any respect and that's why we never go far in it, which is quite disgraceful when you look at the squads we've had.

I know we've got much bigger problems at the moment, but I think it's symptomatic of the wider issues at the club. Especially an unrealistic sense of our status - players seem to think they're much better than they actually are. I could possibly understand top players like Kane and Son showing less than their best when playing the EL, but for limited players like Winks and Sissoko to swan about as if they're doing us a favour playing in it, really rubs salt into the wound.

I have no doubt that Lloris is having a dig at Alli and prob Winks who always looks pissed off. Surprised with Sissoko last night as his best attribute is usually getting stuck in and effort. Let that scorer of second goal just run away.
