See I know you make a good argument DaSpurs and I respect your genuine umbrage at what you saw as a dig from SS57 but, and maybe I'm a big girls blouse, but 30% frightens the bejesus out of me, I'm not a fan of total CCTV coverage mind you.

Without trying to get too deep into it, I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that you don't have a government owned by the wealthiest tiny percentage of people on the planet. Our 1% owns over 99% of our nation's assets, and they're the ones running the government.

As the political philosopher Alan Moore once said (and famously paraphrased in the wonderful V for Vendetta), "'People shouldn't be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people."

With the resources and weapons at the disposal of the modern US government, removing the right to bear arms of the American people is unthinkable. This is certainly not to imply each are at odds with one another, or that one should ever even attempt direct physical harm on the other, but that balance of power has to be maintained.

On the surface I don't blame you at all, but I can assure you life here is nothing like what the media portrays with the frequency of shootings and violence. In fact, shooting numbers have actually dropped in all but one city here in the US in the last decade/

But Jesus, one camera/10-14 people. Do you give a thumbs up to the camera while having a wank?

Lol, I've no idea who originally fed you Britons that crock of shit but it isn't even close to true. Only roughly 30% of us own firearms, and a massive percentage of that is people living in rural areas. It's clear you're a smart fella 57, I know good n well you can see past media-fed bullshit ;)

But hell naw man the government harshing on my freedoms is far scarier than my right to bear arms against communism and jihad.

Yes, but some of them possess a pretty impressive personal arsenal, don't they? Sure, only about a third of the population owns a gun, but there are enough around for everyone to have one (and that's just the legally held ones, I believe).

Most CCTV cameras are privately owned, like the ones installed in and around football grounds, in shopping malls, petrol stations, railway stations, even private homes—at least three people down my street have them, as much for deterrent value as anything.

Not really the thread for this discussion, though.

Yes, those weapons are physically present, but despite that plethora only 30% of us choose to buy them. And with weapons, we're not talking a common good that can easily spread to the masses, we're discussing a commodity defended by that same commodity and by the very people who choose to procure them (and therefore willing to use). It follows then that the ownership/population ratio for availability is an exponential decline, unlike with something such as water or food. Also, one could make the argument those very weapons are primarily used for deterrent value as well, which is actually the truth for the vast majority.

But yes, you're right, wrong place to discuss.

Does this have to be either one of inside job or crazy spurs fan? Can't it just be accidental e.g. electrical fire? :playful:

Can we take it from this that you are a gun owner?

Can't be levy as he'd surely have sold the large can of petrol for 7 small tins of lighter gas for a net profit.

I know he keeps getting mentioned but I really can't see Arson Wenger doing this.

Unless he was destroying some evidence maybe?

The sick fuck.

It was an Andros Towsend shot from September 2013 which recently re-entered the Earth's atmosphere and came hurtling back towards goal.

It missed, of course.
