Unfortunately though, Paulinho has shown again that he has no sense of an attacking threat, just came on and slowed the play down by spreading the ball sideways, and even then he didn't pass it sideways as well as Mason/Bentaleb, he always plays it slightly behind people. No sense of urgency with him, would have even preferred Dembele

spurs players ran their ran their socks off. we played a team that will win the league at a canter this year. I loved the way we did nt stop pressing even after 3rd goal. This is easier to take than the other hammerings and we will beat most teams if we carry on like this. pathetic would be watching overplayed big names stroll around going through the motions. but poch seems to have stopped playing them

Well with not having watched this match, and only just catching up with this thread, I'm genuinely unsure as to how we played tonight.

Such differing opinions!

Half of the people who watched the game dont know how we played so dont worry about it, theyd have you believe lamela scored all 3 chelsea goals

Last beat that crappy club when I was what 19 in 1990......and people are happy.

We're a pathetic club and I don't see how you can dress it any other way.

No wonder we have no support amongst anyone below 20.

Ground will be empty come 10-15 years - your Enic legacy.

Building a football team my arse.
Excuse me, do my sons not count, ages 5 and 4?

I thought it was good performance. Chelsea are a class above but we matched them at points. Defensivley they were too strong, and creatively we lacked the invention to break them down.

Very good: Kane and Davies for me, the former for his effort, hold up play and all round game, and the latter for decent defensively but also some excellent crosses. Really starting to settle. Everyone else played good apart for Verts. Shocker for a supposed world class CB. The Remy goal was embarrasing.

Still, there is progress and thats what we all want to see. Playing like that we should give the other 17 teams a problem in the league.
It wasn't a good performance, it was a decent performance

It was a performance where we showed some continuation of the things we were putting in to place against Everton and offers some encouragement for the next few games - in short it was a performance that wasn't as shit as the score line makes it seem

But let's not get carried away - it wasn't a good performance........no need for anyone to start threads gushing with pride about the performance like after the Man City game

Clive Allen is really getting on my nerves: he is consistently negative about us and I think that he is a bitter man. I had a set to with him on 606 once last season. He stated that we had little to show apart from the two shots in the first half. I thought that we played well, although the end product is still a problem. Nevertheless, we are progressing. This was a different performance to last year's visit.

We looked good early on but gave away 2 poor goals and then Chelsea went into cruise control. We were far from awful as per early season but we looked toothless in attack.

I don't care who we come up against were not going to get any joy unless we have wide players. We haven't got a team of monsters to use as battering Rams when we get in the final 3rd so we have to use all the space on the field.

Paulinho for me has to go. Why does he feel like when he passes any ball he runs towards it again. Even 5 yard passes he was almost on top of the ball by the time he ran to it rather than running into space.

Come on KoO...Don't be deceived by Chelsea LETTING us play in front of them.

They've stepped off completely, you think that's because we've been so amazing we've prevented them from playing? No.

They could have another 2-3 if they 'want'.

Yeah, they let us play, but it was a little harsh that when we appeared to be building up a head of steam they go and score with their first attack of the half.

There's a world of difference between Chelsea in 1990 and Chelsea in 2014 mate. No offence, but you sound stuck in the past.

3rd match against a top 5 side that Poch got it completely wrong. Why not just sit back and counter against them? I just dont get it. It worked so well against Arsenal. Sitting back then hit on the counter is the only way your going to get anything out of City and Chelsea when your side is not that good(which we arent). So what, it would have been unpleasing today? Who the fuck cares! Would have been the only way to get a result. We were never going to get anything out of this by "having a go." Left way too much space for Chelsea. They are rock solid at the back, so what do we do? We just "have a go" knowing full well they are completely comfortable with sitting back themselves since they can just exploit on the counter. In fact, thats what they prefer. We played right into Chelsea's hand and played their game. Exactly what they wanted. They didnt even break a freaking sweat. Unbelievably naive from Poch, yet again.

I think it has become a mental more than talent as sometimes so called lesser teams get better results than we do.
You may be right. I think we will be too good for Palace so hopefully we can just forget about this for 4 weeks!!

Cheers. But did anyone really expect anything from tonight?

What a shit week of football. Arsenal win, Man United win, Liverpool win, Chelsea win, Man City win, Even West Ham fucking win and pull away from us. Never mind though. At least we have Daniel Levy and not Peter Ridsdale , eh!
Shit happens get real.

Efficient, consistent, well-drilled machine beats an inefficient team that still has large gaps in its gameplan.

Bit of a weird one really, as a team we did ok and kept trying. Individually I thought several of them had quite poor games, especially from a defensive point of view.

Just got to keep working away at things I guess.

Meh.
