Cant disagree with this statement but it is possible to recruit players of that level occasionaly if teams are astute enough.
You could use say West ham as an example with Song who has played at that level with arsenal and Barca,now Im not saying he is a world beater but was using as a guide.
Only problem with potential is sometimes it doesnt always develop as expected or if the coaching isnt up to par,yet as you say we cant but CL players when we dont pay the coin.
But he is hardly the only one and he is not worth what Southampton were asking for him. People are so focused on Schniederlin just because we were after him, if the same story happened with a different player people would be clamouring for that player instead.
Well yes, obviously. But what people mean when they say CL players is basically top quality players who are established.

Eriksen?
Eriksen wasn't an established top player when we bought him, he hardly is now. He was a young player with loads of potential.

Come to think of it, wasnt Ade, Soldado, Fazio, and going back to early years VDV CL players we bought, not sure on Corluka, im sure there is more if i think harder.

Vertonghen, Lloris I think were both experienced in the CL.

How on earth did i miss those 2, there has been quite a few over the years So the myth we cant sign CL quality players is exactly that a myth!
Its all about the EPL and ambition shown by the club, if that ambition is shown to be not evident, the player moves on, for which we unfortunatley see quite often at our club.

Surely it's only down to how much money you pay them?
Most players would come to us if we could pay £200,000 a week. Champions league or not.

re the ITK from Trix, not too surprising but I'm not sure there are bigger holes in the squad. We are overloaded with numbers in CM but are lacking a single top quality player in what is arguably the most important position on the field. Bentaleb and Mason may well get there but they are not there yet.

Well yes as city proved when they were first taken over, but they obviously had ambition and a plan to capture the players like robiniho in the first place, money talks in the EPL, but DL must of talked up our ambition to capture the likes of Loris, its what happens when they realise the talk of ambition is not evident, which we constantly see with change of manager and top players leaving, also the lack of quality arriving at key stages of the TW to push on.
