I know he divided opinions, some loved him for his philosophical ramblings, some for his exuberant afro. Some (like me) were less impressed with his laissez-faire attitude to defending.

But it is incredibly rare for a footballer to effectively placed on gardening leave for 2 years and told not to come near the club. Also seems very odd that no other club is willing to take him either.

What was his crime ?

Wasn't it the quenelle thing?

Saying that, he's not played much since his post match interview where he said he was better than our other left backs and they wouldn't have a chance of getting in the team. I can't remember which match it was, maybe it was actually his last one.

I think it's the quenelle thing too. He got a £50k fine and 3 match ban for that which apparently he hasn't served yet. So any club taking him on a free would have to get close to his 40k a week wages and see him sit out the first 3 games. He's got 7 months left on his contract and I presume will sit it out. No wonder we can't give him away.

Pictures on Instagram after the Liverpool 4-0 loss, smiling, suggesting he was mocking AVB, the quenelle. He's burned his bridges.

I know quite a few QPR fans and they were moaning about him - tidy footballer but fighting with team mates and a couldn't care less attitude at times according to some of them.

Undoubtedly the invitation to the quenelle inventor to the Lane. That was really, really unbelievably stupid, especially given the timing.

I'm thinking his general attitude along with the quenelle thing didn't go down well with our Jewish ownership.

At what ?

Come off it BC. Yes his formed dipped massively after AVB took over, but in the previous seasons he got steadily better, and despite the myth that he would have at least one brain-fart per game, was actually a very consistent and reliable player under Harry.

He could be very cool under pressure, a good passer of the ball, and quite attack-minded. He certainly made a hell of a lot less errors than Rose or Walker.

Remember him picking a fight with one of his own teammates in the world cup too.

Quite strange recent times

dared to have a personality. avb the socially awkward weirdo couldn't handle it so shipped him out, what's happened to him under poch is just a result of this.
Got in fights with Spurs players reportedly, got in fight with QPR players reportedly, gets in a fight with teammates right on a World Cup pitch. Supports racist gesture for which he shows little to no remorse.

Yeah, it's obviously all AVB.

I think in the middle of the pitch he was quite a cool customer, but I don't think he was a very good defender and I don't think he contributed much going forward either. He did improve over the time he was with us, but I don't think he was a better LB overall than Rose or Davies, and neither of them are world beaters either.

Many things I would guess, the Quenelle issue maybe topping things off.

Massively declined in his 'last season' with us.
Didn't show any form whatsoever at QPR, to my best knowledge. They didn't want him back.
Poor World Cup (in admittedly a poor team) and capped it all by fighting with team mates.
Fallen out with managers and players at the club apparently.
Then the Quenelle incident.

He's obviously really pissed off the powers that be and he has absolutely no future with the club, but his own poor form/attitude means no-one wants him and so everyone is waiting for his contract to run out.
