We moved our best attacking players (Kane and Eriksen) out of their best positions, and I hope MP learned it wasn't worth it. It's not even like we rested them, so I don't really see the benefit.

What an awful, unacceptable performance. Reminded me of the uncreative shit AVB served up before eventually getting sacked. No cutting edge, no imagination, Kane taken out of the game by being played in midfield. We now have an incredibly tough game to play at Bramall Lane where they will believe they can still beat us, their fans will believe and there will be obvious hometown advantage for the underdog. I seriously hope they don't get an early goal because as this team has shown at Palace they will fold under the slightest amount of pressure.

Have to hand it to Sheffield, they put up a solid show.

If we get the first goal in the away leg we'll be on our way to wem-ber-lee.

I agree. Sometimes (often, actually) League 1 teams will play their heart out and make it very difficult for the big boys. No, we didn't play particularly well but I feel like we're in control and we rotated effectively enough to keep challenging on all fronts and all that...

Not really gonna complain but should we have been playing the final 15 minutes against 10 men??

Second yellow for deliberate hand ball??

Whilst we played shit, the ref gave us very little. The left back as well got away with two very cynical fouls on Townsend in my opinion.

Davies run ragged by a witless journeyman league 1 winger.

Adebayor his usual indisciplined erratic lazy woeful self.

No tempo.

Not one chance from one play.

Terrible, as bad as we've been also season.

So many teams come to the Lane and play like that. Sit deep and frustrate, it's not rocket science once we've been watched a couple of times. We need some more clever players, move the ball quicker and a striker with some serious pace.

This should be on the front page of the site. Need far more ruthlessness, pace, and aggression.

AVB got results.

With Eriksen looking knackered and very few options in the wide AM positions, surely we have to recall Pritchard.

The quality of the game was dictated by SU who put up a block (especially in the second half)...it's not like we don't already know we can't break teams down yet. lol

Sheffield were organised, disciplined and made a good account of themselves.

Will take that and look for an open game at theirs where we'll be able to play and we should be ok.

i would take another poor performance next week if the result is the same.
A poor performance next week and we won't come away with a win. You heard their support tonight you can only imagine what it will be like next week. One game standing between a 7th place a league 1 team and wembley they will be right up for it. Can't afford another performance like to night. But have to say I have more confidence in 451 next week than the 442 tonight.

Adebayor isn't some YTS player. He has torn us apart a few times as an opposition player and been a good goalscorer for us too in the past so no reason to be quite so disparaging. He isn't the type to run in behind, he is just a different sort, he prefers to collect deep and hold up, feed it wide and get in the box for a cross.

if he prefers to collect deep and hold up, feed it wide and get in the box for a cross, why doesn't he try to do that once in a while?

Awful result

Why even give them a chance of progressing. The atmosphere at Brammall Lane will be electric next week and if they get an early goal, we're in for an extremely tricky evening

I've watched most of our performances over the past few years and can say with confidence that that was far from our worst match. Yeah we didn't score four or five but this was against a team that was set up to nullify our slow build-up play / attacks. Sheff. Utd deserve more credit and I'd be less harsh on our boys. They were tough to break down.

I think it'll be a better game next week. They'll have to come out and play now which means there'll be more space for Eriksen and Kane to exploit. I'm not one for jumping on the slating bandwagon but Ade was extremely disappointing tonight - had a massive opportunity to change some opinions tonight and yet again looked halfway out the door.
