Must be the first time in a long time where a win has felt like a defeat. And for them, the defeat seems like a win.

It was never going to be a cakewalk but i expected a bit more from us. They had kids in their midfield that we should have trounced, scared the life out of them, but no. We just took it easy on them, i can't remember a full bloodied cup tie tackle going in all night. Maybe i'm not reading enough into this 15 games in 7 days business and how it affects the team. I always thought though that players preferred playing more than they do training.

Seems like Kane position up front, and the general team play, was sacrificed in favour of Ade, seems like the team was built around him returning and everybody had to play around that. MP should have done what he did last week and played both Rose and Davies, genuine width all day long there.

Anyways, one foot in the final and all that. Just hope we've got the cojones to cope with whatever they throw at us next week, and we will get it, mark my words. From minute 1 through to 90 we'll be getting it. No doubt that if we crumble up there, this place will be in meltdown.

Not impressed,
and I'm pretty easily impressed where Spurs are concerned.
What was with the long ball tactics.Counted at least 20.
If Sheffield can cope with anything it's the long ball.

At the start of the second half half we kicked off
and played 7 passes before we got into their half.
Then the long ball forward was gobbled up by their defenders.
Lack of imagination and inventiveness all night.
Eventually Soldado pulled one out of the sky and won the penalty.
I hope one is enough up there.

If we do crumble and its in Our locker to do it then the club will only have themselves to blame, it was a shite showing and we played into their gameplan.

Maybe we should of stuck with Ramos then.

He signed Gareth Bale and Luka Modric, won a cup, got both our key strikers scoring over 20 a season, then had them sold (plus Defoe) and replaced with Frazier Campbell. Wasn't a bad manager at all, and it's arguable that his signings and fitness regime were behind the success of the club after he left.

Redknapp did well but won absolutely nothing and probably would have lost the game against Sheffield United, so take comfort in a 1-0 result for now and be happy that we've got someone in charge who looks to be building a young solid team.

Hmm so who's fault was that then, obviously not Ramos as to why we were sitting 3 points of relegation i think it was.
But then we have to ask the same old question why was a pretty good team dismantled yet again.. Stadium i hear you cry!!!! Do me a favour, think you need to look higher up the chain to see why we have faultered at critical stages under managers in the last 10 plus years.

Why does it have to be anyone's fault? Berbatov made it clear he wanted to leave after Fergie tapped him up, similar with Keane and Benitez.

I'm glad Ramos at least gave Ledley a medal. We may have suffered poor league form under him, but at least he won us a trophy.

If Poch can do that for Hugo, then I'll be much happier than winning every game by gung ho football and yet failing at the final hurdle.

Dont really get the negativity. If Sheff Utd had opened up we would have carved them open and scored a few. They executed their game plan brilliantly but had zero...yes zero shots on goal. Everyone going on about Bramall Lane, atmosphere etc.....We play our best football away from home! Cant deny the fact that we have had a huge amount of games recently and the last couple of months have been so much better than what came before it that it has to be put into some context. We dont have that special Hazard type of player that can unlock these type of teams so we play in front of them when they defend like this whether they are League 1 or lower half Prem. Kane looks tired last couple of games (and clearly out of position) and really want to see him and Erikssen get a bit of rest at some point so they dont burn out. Getting Ade playing again and Kane a bit of a rest could be vital in making sure Kane is as effective later in the season as he has been. Hope we rotate a bit more against Leicester.

Since the Chelsea win we've won 2 out of 3, any of them impressive wins, no. Before the Chelsea win were any impressive, hardly any. It seems to me normal service has resumed.

Maybe Harry failed at the last hurdle, but do you not think DL failed Harry in the TW's, equally the same can be said for Ramos and Jol, its all too easy to blame every manager when the real truth is each and everyone of them was not backed, just like Poch isnt now and will not be with who he wants to take us forward, but your going to argue we have a bloated squad and it's difficult to get players out, that maybe but its been a year or so since AVB left, and we still have players that played under Harry!!!

Great result 1-0. If we score at their place they have to win 3-1 to go through (albeit after extra time.)
Is that our best defensive display of the season? Vorm did not have a save to make IIRC?

Edit: Great diplomacy from MoPo towards Clough last night around the Ade incident.

Not really. Every club has limitations with it's ability to sign players, and even Harry said that DL tried hard to sign players he asked for. You can't ostrasise Levy for refusing to risk the financial future of the club, especially when you certainly won't have any proven truth around transfers and DL's involvement regarding the 'wishlists'.

Personally, I feel Harry failed the fans in the transfer window by openly talking up our chances of signing players we never had the capability of signing. We're not Man City or Chelsea and were right to not risk bankrupting the club just to jazz up his CV - if only Pompey, Southampton and QPR had the same sense.

Tricky selection problems for this game. Harry is still young and this is 1st full season. He was not at his best last night so I might be tempted to start Sol and Ade up front.

Martin Jol was manager when Bale signed. From what we heard regarding Modric's transfer that was mostly down to Levy/Comolli, not Ramos.

Not surprised to hear a massive hoo-ha about why we didn't blow Utd away, and how they are still in the tie, but really, how many teams have we blown away at White Hart Lane this season or last, or the one before that. Some of our very worst performances and results have come at home against teams who have been organised and sat back. Obviously I would have been happier if we had at least a 2 goal lead but we will have more opportunities next week night and if we take at least 1, possibly 2, we will go through.

Absolutely... next Wednesday's game will be a fight to the death, make no mistake. It'll be noisy, partisan, and fucking cold. We need our biggest personalities, and toughest players out there. Can't afford to be pussy footing around in our half like Davies and Walker were last night. Up and at 'em.

Anna Nuvvafing-why wasn't McEveley sent off? Deliberate handball is a booking offence and he was on a yellow. Kyle Naughton got a straight red earlier in the season for a handball in the box.
