Of course he could do worse, he could be a total liability at this level
So is Andros. Doesnt track back. Doesnt add anything besides pace. Doesnt press. Yedlin at least tracks back(out of habit due to being an RB for Seattle) and looks to cross the ball.

Need max points out of this one and QPR to have a chance. Doubtful though.

Would like to see Yedlin get a game. Cant do worse than Townsend, that's for sure.

Considering he was one of the guys that was left behind for the trip to Italy, where the team stayed en extra day to train, and the entire squad, apart from Adebayor, Kaboul, Capoue, Ceballos and Yedlin went, I'd say he probably pretty far from even making the match day squad. My gut feeling tells me that he'll maybe get in the match day squad very late in the season.

Just my two cents.

I saw Yedlin play v Colombia a few months back.

IMO he is 18 months minumum away from our 1st team.

It wasnt a great game by him at all, but to put it in perspective, he had a game in Seattle 3 days prior and only had like 1 day of training with the national team at our training center.

I'll put it in perspective for you.

He's not ready.

I would have agreed with you, but we saw Poch give Ade 2 straight starts after 2 months of being far from the 18. And also threw Capoue and Kaboul in for a game too after being far from the 18

Could be or might not be. You dont know. You havent seen him play for us yet. And neither have I. I just go by what I see from him for the US and what I saw from him for Seattle. From what I see, he at least looks to cross the ball when he gets into position. A foreign concept for Townsend. So it might be worth playing him over Townsend when we need to add pace into the team.

I'd reason to guess our Belgian lot would know. They had to deal with him for 95 minutes in the WC when he was thrown on after like 25 due to Johnson's injury and proceeded to keep Hazard in his pocket all game

Time to kick on and start a run in the league.

This will show our character. The bodies must be knackered after so many games in a short while, but its' the mental side which will dictate the power in the legs. I hope we show how far we have come under Poch in this regard, play the way we want to play and play with passion.....or we just play shite like i've come to expect from Spurs over the years.

He's made what, one start for the U21s? And was apparently pretty poor, yet he's ready to come in to the first XI. I know you want him to do well because he's American, but come on...

They beat man it's, who were slow and lacklustre in possession.

We're often guilty of that, and particularly given recent results, I'm not too hopeful.

Massive game though. Must win to keep spirits up and stay in the race for fourth.

I am strangly optimistic about our chances of getting very very close to the 4th spot come the end of the season. We have the easiest run in and are playing alot of teams that need the points as much as we do. When teams come to play, as stated by Disco above, we will win alot more than we lose. I think Chelsea, City and Arsenal will grab the first three places. Utd, Liverpool and ourselves will fight for forth. I think we can get above Utd but we will need to do very well to beat Liverpoo to 4th. We can do it though.

I actually also think the team and the support will be right up for it tonight. We at least need to show the passion and drive in honour of one of our all time legends who sadly won't be there tonight. COYS

I think tonights game is make or break for this season.

Lose, and the gap is bigger and more challenging, 7 point difference with form against us, and with our potential opponents.

Win, and the gap is 4 points - the positive being that we have no distractions, so go into every game as a cup final (or like how we played chelsea/arsenal), we could do something special.

Still, massive progress has been made this season, totally impressed.

I want Spurs to do well. And from what I have seen recently. We are in dire need of someone who can not inly inject pace into the team, but also looks to lay in a cross when he stretches the opposition.

I can't tell you how many times i wanna pull my hair out watching Townsend and Walker constantly get into position then just either pass it back to each other and get it back to the center of the final third outside of the box or just lose it altogether. It's infuriating. At least Yedlin not only looks to cross the ball, but also does it fairly well.

I'm not only advocating him because he's American. If he was any other nationality, I'd say the same thing. From what i see, we need someone to stretch defenses and also lay in a cross into the box and give us a chance to score. We have someone like that at the club. Might as well give him a shot and see what he can do.

I keep reading comments like this.

What progress are we making? We finished 6th last season and at present rate aren't going to finish any higher than that this. Defeat tonight would leave us platooned in 7th.

5th the season before that.

4th the season before that.

We still don't have a new stadium and we still have a massively unbalanced squad (although Poch does seem to be trying to remedy that but hasn't actually done so yet).

Exactly how have we progressed or moved forward as a club?

You have correctly identified what we need, but Yedlin doesn't provide it.

I would bet my mortgage on the fact that he doesn't make the grade at Spurs.

Ryan Fredericks stands a better chance than him!

Especially at home I just feel like we really have to be up for it and clicking to get a sufficent performance or we do commonly suffer from a flat display.

Unfortunately we don't really have players to inject energy, pace and excitement into the team consistenly to up the tempo of our play. Because we still have some talented players it becomes a lot easier when the opposition do open up and try to attack which hopefully Swansea will do but then again I saw them against Southampton and they parked the bus and set out in a fashion that we normally struggle with.
