From an FC Köln fan on r/coys

"Left footed, very consistent and reliable (especially considering his age). His passing is great, good built-up player. CAn also play left-back. Good tacklings, decent pace. A weakness used to be his timing when going for headers, but he succesfully worked on that."

"His main weakness at this point is the lack of experience, I'd say. I mean, this is the first season of Bundesliga he has ever played"

We've been linked with a lot of left footed Cb's, Verts off if he won't sign a new contract in the summer?

Not so sure about that.

Kaboul and Chiriches are clearly out the door.

Verts has 3 years left, so club still holds the cards this summer.

Makes sense for us to have 2 LCBs and 2 RCBs amongst our 4.

Suspect our long term game plan will be to sell Vertonghen or Fazio next summer and promote Carter-Vickers for 2016/17 (if he develops as expected).

Which would theoretically give this Wimmer guy a year to settle before being front line.

If we were to sell Vertonghen, I doubt we'd be replacing him with a young player who had only just completed his first season in the Bundesliga.

As is, we only have one left-footed CB. I'd suspect he'd be coming in to be Vertonghen's backup/alternate.

Berbatov - frazier Campbell, I wouldn't be shocked but I like your explanation better

@effzehUK Is he any good?

@THFCSPURS19 young and upcoming, had a solid season (his first in the Bundesliga) and our best defender. British style - no nonsense.

Is he quicker than Fazio?
In other words can he run?

@THFCSPURS19 been reported in Germany that he's been in London for talks and it's been rumbling on for some time. Think it will happen.

Not sure another inexperienced centre back is exactly what we need.

He's adapted to the step up to the 1. Bundesliga quite well. In fact, Koln's defensive record has been outstanding for a promotion climber, and keep in mind Wimmer's played in them all but one. Only the top five sides in the league have conceded less goals than them, and four of those (all but Bayern) are all within a mere three less. Koln just doesn't score enough.

Considering he's also played left back, yes he's decently quick for a big fella.
