Pretty much as some of us expected. I wonder what Pochettino would think of that? Does he, like AVB, have expectations related to spending that aren't in line with the club's recent austerity in the transfer market? The quotes he's given on the summer transfer window don't strike me as someone who's perfectly content with squad signings who won't immediately help the first XI.

This from MS

“Yes I think I have taken my decision, we all know what it is,” Schneiderlin said.

“I am not getting ahead of myself, I learnt a lot last season. The aim is to remain in England, it is a league that I like a lot and where I really enjoy myself. If I leave Southampton it will be for a club that is playing at a better level than the Europa League. I will take my time to think, there are some discussions at the moment, but nothing is done. But of course the Champions League is my aim. If I quit Southampton, it will be for the Champions League.”

He's not coming to us.

People seriously believe that Yedlin was bought for anything other than a way to hopefully tap into the U.S. Market?

I suggest you all make the effort to watch him when he appears in development squad matches. He is nowhere near the level of Trippier and never will be.

This remind me of old quotes i see float around here from time to time about Kane. Players can improve.

Beauvue isn't French, he is from Guadeloupe and plays for their national team.

Guadeloupe are a French province and hold the right to French nationality, an example being Lillian Thuram and Our very own Pascal Shimbomba (;)) both Guadeloupian born and raised and choose to play for France instead.

Yes, except the difference is Beauvue chose to play for Guadeloupe not France just like Ayew (who was actually born in France) chose to play for Ghana.

Well, if Jasper's bit is genuine that it's a matter of us paying up for Schneiderlin, I hope Levy will give an answer/Poch will make up his mind about percentages of allotted funds quickly so we can identify backups. Upon doing so, I hope the assessment team gets it right if such a player would actually be better than Stambouli or not.

It is not a matter of paying up. MS has said he has made his decision and will go to a champions league club. We are not in the Champions League.

It's all over; we'll jump to the next on the list now and pursue in earnest.

Meh -wank gesture-, not the first time he's said nearly exactly these quotes. Believe what you guys will, but personally I think there's still a chance (and you'll note I've not been one of the ones pining for his signature and blaming things on not getting him for over a year now, just my objective standpoint). I think players, managers, and agents will say all sorts of shit this time of year that come September may or not line up with what they said three over three months prior.

Yeah when it's straight from the horses mouth like that it's hard to argue otherwise. Pretty much all the Itk we've been getting has said he's keen to come to us, and it's just a matter of us stumping up the cash.

Don't think he's ever come out and said he'll only go to a CL club. Unless I'm forgetting something.

Agree.

Last season he seemed excited about the prospect of signing for us together with Poch. Now it seems like he have bigger plans. Why else would he word it like that if it wasnt to inform us that he will move to a top 4 side.

These quotes from not even a week ago: http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...eady-to-pounce-for-Saints-Morgan-Schneiderlin

"For my progress and my visibility, it would be better to play for a club who play in the Champions League."

These from the end of March: http://nigezie.tv/arsenal-target-morgan-schneiderlin-wants-champion-league-action/

“I don’t want to be in front of the TV on Tuesday and Wednesday [nights]. It’s important, at 25-years-old to finally know the Champions League... Since then, I’ve had discussions with the leaders and I want to play at the highest level.

And yet, we've received ITK since both of those dates that, especially since the end of March, that Schneiderlin is open to coming to us. So nah, I'm not particularly bothered by these new quotes. Hell, it's entirely possible these quotes can be as simple as agent-directed rhetoric to get Levy to ante up n get on it. Just all sorts of possibilities. Either he comes or he doesn't, but there's a considerable amount of time between now and the end of August, much can happen in that time (including Schneiderlin working his way into the French squad in Euro qualifying, so not getting too hung up on whether he's playing Tuesdays or Thursdays), and I just don't view quotes made in May as end-all-be-all for transfer activity in the summer.

Maybe. He might be just trying to appease the Saints fans. Or maybe MS agent is giving us nice signals in order to get his client the best possible deal with Arsenal.

We'll see, but I wouldn't bet my house on us getting Morgan.

Not reallly but this time last year, he said:
"For my progress and my visibility, it would be better to play for a club who play in the Champions League.

"I know there is a lot of speculation, but I still have three years on my contract, it does not depend on me. We'll see in the coming weeks."

The Champions League is my goal and if I leave Southampton it will be for a club in the Champions League.

@spurs9

That sounds pretty definitive to me.

Much more so than those other quotes.

Case closed as far as I'm concerned.

I hope he MS makes up his mind or that Arsenal put in their bid and sign him. Cannot go through 3 months of talk on when he will sign for Spurs. Let's move on. If he is our number one target then negotiations would have started already and we would know the numbers from the Saints.

He has made those comments on radio so i see no reason to believe otherwise. He wants CL football. If our scouting system is up to scratch then we can find a comparative player at a better price than paying 25 million pounds or there abouts.

I know we love the ITK's. But remember the information they get is subjective usually from a Spurs point of view. Their contact at the club might be 100% certain we have a good chance of signing such and such and they could be 100% mistaken.

Numerous times the manager (Harry/Avb etc..) have said one thing and an ITK something else. I have yet to see the itk be proven correct. Half of ITK is office gossip. Always take with a pinch of salt.

Having said all that, I hope I'm wrong.

Oh I'm with you there, but then again I never viewed the likelihood of us getting him as particularly great

It does, but it was on a French radio station, so you would assume he was speaking French, so the translation might not be perfect and he could have actually meant club with CL aspirations. Also, I'm pretty sure a player has said this before, then joined us (or maybe Liverpool) to the dismay of the selling teams fans. I admit, it's not looking good though.
