You dirty BasterdSexist. Bet you don't do midgets either.

Holtby was not free agent. We paid 1.5m to get him in Jan. We were ready to pay him 70k a week - unproven PL player , who has just started out his career.
I think difference is how you & I rate Bentaleb. I see him as potential become one of the best CMs in PL.
Btw, wonder if you will make the same argument that you are making for Kane ? - to run his contract out and keep hold of him. It won't work in today's market.
Yes and he got one. As did Kane, as did Mason, as do all our young players if they do well. But they get paid what their ability demands not their potential. If we gave Walker £80k a week when he was 21 we'd be kicking ourselves now.
You are not getting the point. If we pay Nabil £80k a week. Then Kane wants at least that. Mason will probably want £50k. Onomah/Winks/Townsend/Rose all the players coming through will all expect that for being regular starters. We cannot afford to pay that.
We are playing academy players only in last few seasons. Before that, every average footballer from Palacios to Hutton to Paulinho to God knows who or how many , we have paid huge & unnecessary money in wages.
Wake up ,,,,
There is a huge differential between what our academy players get & what we are willing to afford some 21 year old from Italian league or French league.
If you feel we would be overpaying - don't cry if Pogba kind of situation happens for us too
I have no idea what he's asking for but my guys says what we have offered is "miles away" from 80k and when I said "half that?" He replied "not far off".
So should we assume 40-50k area?
Paulinho was getting 55k a week last season...
Maybe if he starts to pitch in with over ten goals a season he should be paid that but at the moment he doesn't quite do enough for me and I think he's slightly over rated by us Fans. Don't get me wrong, he's a good player but to be getting the wages it sounds like he wants he's got to become more of a match winner.
I agree in not paying over the odds on wages however there was once a youth player at Man Utd who people expected great things of. He had never played a first team game but wanted a first team wage at the age of 17. Fergie refused to pay and so he didn't sign his contract. He left Man Utd. His name is Paul Pogba.
Now I'm not comparing Bentaleb to Pogba in terms of ability however the power ultimately rests with the players. The difference for us is that Bentaleb is on a contract but that will quickly wind down and if he feels we do not value him then he will be off. What the cost of losing him and trying to replace him in the current market?
Take football out of the equation.
You are 2 years out of university, when you replace some senior members on a team at your company. You team is delivering huge profits, and you are considered a key member of that team.
Now, because you were hired out of university, you are on £20K per year. You learn that the members of the team that you replaced, and are now doing their job better than they were, were earning £50K per year. You have been told you are a key member of the team, and your contributions have helped deliver the profits. You also have a headhunter whispering in your ear that a competitor company is willing to pay you £80K per year.
What do you do?
Do you say nothing and continue to accept that your wages are reasonable based on your age? Do you take significantly less than market value to stay at your company and hope they recognize your value down the road? Do you negotiate with your company, explaining your value, and ask for market value? Do you simply go to the competitor without negotiating with your current employer?
Think pogba situ was more about playing time and opportunity than money.
I have confidence all that this will be resolved. I'm intrigued to see how this will all pan out.

You did not answer the question.Dembelle is not earning £80k a week, nor is, Kane, Soldado, Capoue, Mason, Vertongen, etc... so where is the market value?
Nine months they have been negotiating. He's trying to do a Sol.
That is not how real life works. This is exactly how life works, never mind football.
You have to earn your wages - a person is paid for their experience as much as for their ability, and only through a combination of both do you ever truly earn your most.
There is no competitor willing to pay him £80k. He's comparatively in his 2nd year of a graduate scheme looking to be given parity with senior staff with a lot more experience. If it were real life, he'd be called a cocky gobshite.
