From our current ITK looks like the club have a great handle on project managing the construction of the stadium, but have forgotten about getting players that 61,000 people would actually pay to watch in three years time...

I can fully understand not spending circa 20m on the names mentioned, apart from Berahino at a pinch, but how have we not turned up anyone else decent if the MS money was available?

It seems that we have gone back to 2006 era spending/transfers. Buying young talent and making the most of them. Which i don't mind.

The young talent we bring in now, maybe that good in three years time. When we hit the CL our biggest known players were VDV, and Gallas. Smart buys at a cheap price. Bale and Modric were young players that we brought in for their potential. Even Berbatov was a risk. The rest of the side wasn't exactly glamourous. But they were the right players for what Harry wanted.

It seems we kind of lost our way in that regard, and Levy brought this up a couple of weeks ago with the end of the season column and stadium plans. Bringing in mitchell, poch, stadium, young talent, it seems that Levy has a plan again. Just hope we can stick to it. But it feels right.

And who knows, we may get a cheap bargain ala VDV again if it is right for us.

Anway digressing... :)

I don't think this has been posted (will delete if it has been).

Gards in response to someone who said they thought it was harsh to expect Lennon to train with the youth.

bad Egg! Bad attitude! Long servant yes but one who has always caused issues behind scenes!

And then after the same person essentially said Lennon deserved more after working his ass off for years:

And as I replied to Gards, was he suggesting Poch didn't like Stambouli the player or the person? It's different if it's the person as the person can still be professional, ie Stambouli, if he felt he still had a chance of a stab at fulfilling a contract at Spurs rather than being considered a failure after ten months.

Always curious to know why Poch doesn't like Stambouli and ship him out after only 10 months? Seems a hard working decent bloke? Is it due to something other than football side? IIRC some ITK said it's not due to him siding with the french crew that are not here already.

I suspect his work rate in training could have be inadequate, which would explain why he was always a bit slow and seemed to be on specifics for his fitness perhaps.

If he worked for me I'd have binned him off a long time ago.

Lennon that is not Gards.

I have said it before the disagreement with MP regarding his match performance is nothing to do with why he was ostracised, and once again he has burned far more bridges than just the coaching staff! I posted back in December he was finished as far as we were concerned and nothing has changed since.

What a turn around, when i first registered here Lennon was Levy's fave player, the chosen one, now he on a level with Ade, what a waste of talent

But his forte is a hard working, blue collar DM, and was considered the best player from his former team when he left. I find it hard to believe he doesn't train well.
It got to mean something significantly more for him to be shipped out after 10 months, esp. with our current squad's obvious lacking of DM.

One thing I recalled about what he said though, was that he mentioned the big difference between EPL and Ligue 1 was that players would admit defeat in Ligue 1 far quicker than in EPL. I wonder if that sort of mentality carry on with him...But he seemed to gave his all on the field every time.

Oops don't mean to get too off topic, will take it to a Stambouli tread if there still is one.

I guess his ten years / 300 games means squat to the Spurs Management and board by the sound of things but I, for one, will thank him by applauding him if and when he returns in other colours, to our Stadium.

He's had some mighty fine performances in Spurs colours both offensive and tracking back in tandem with a roving Walker and before that Hutton. On the flip, he went anonymous regularly and his finished product was left wanting, yet I always felt, with Lennon, we had a weapon with which to hurt on the counter, which we did.

Thanks Dov.

It is tough to accept that our current squad minus Adebayor, Lennon, and Chiriches is the one we will have at the start of the season, but I can't see any player signed between now and then starting. I like our team so much, however, that I can grit my teeth and accept that. I suspect many others fans will gnash their teeth at that "failure," though

Hopefully as deals become available in August we will add a player or two who can take us higher. We'll just have to trust the work and improvement of the current promising squad.

DM, WF, then a fruitless stab at PEA if the remaining budget allows (assuming we get rid of Chriches, Lennon and most importantly Ade)?

If anything, those 10 years should also mean that he should be showing the club, current management and board some respect as well. Apparently he doesn't and hasn't which ultimately means he put himself in this position. I will probably applaud him as well when he shows up at the ground for another team but if these rumours about his attitude are correct then I have to think that this is the best for the club,

Everyone needs to stop getting their arse in their hand over supposed valuations of players, in today's market berahino and McCarthy will be 20m plus, it is what it is, we either pay or look elsewhere fucking simple.........you'd think that some on here are paying out of their own pocket!!!

Good post. People need to understand what the influx of the giant TV money has done to the transfer market.

My interpretation of all the tidbits over the year was that poch didn't like the attitudes of the likes of Ade, Lennon and kaboul and how they conducted themselves, whereas with stambouli he was a hard trainer and a good guy, but his play style just didn't suit poch's plans and he didn't fancy him as a player.

i can't believe we would let many more go if we hadn't got players lined up to come in, i know ade and carroll didnt really play a part last season but still think we leaving ourselves short and we were fairly lucky with injuries last season.

Lennon was never the same player after the South African World Cup. HE took a lot of stick in the press at the time which I thought was largely unfair as Glen Johnson had about 4 different players play in the midfield birth infront of him and he made them all look garbage.

He never really terrified defenders quite the same way after that.

I remember the enjoyment of seeing Lennon and Bale flying up their wings. Always tried to guess which one would see their opposing full back in the book first.

Anyway, Being from a Leeds Utd family I always loved how we stole him for £1.5M,
