Nothing is happening for at least another 3-4 days... In my humble opinion.

All our transfers this year has had a fair amount of widespread media coverage prior to being officially announced (as in time periods on medical etc)

If they can't bring more in before the ManUtd match, I believe they will be in no rush to complete deals at all until the very end.

Sorry to be a grump but...

I don't get the approach to the ITK thread at times.

I for one, wouldn't mind reading people's views on said linked players or even on general Spurs transfer related chat.

Heck, I'd even be happy to discuss links from other reputable sources other than ITK, at least it's relative to Spurs and transfers.

It's alright a bit of light hearted fun and jokes but recently it's just the same inane jokes being recycled.

Why is it we can't discuss the merits of Townsend for instance being kept or not (even in a brief moment) without being banished to the Townsend thread.

But when there are pages and pages of the same worn out jokes regarding 'watching out for AC's rectal examination lol!' or 'Corr how many balls has AC gonna have left lol!'... It gets ridiculous.

There's a joke thread after all..

Nowadays you have to wade through all the 'banter' to get anything vaguely interesting... Then if there isn't any of interest... You'd have to wade another ten minutes to find a vaguely amusing, original quip.

Can't we have a bit more moderation on the 'joke' front, it's gone from a nice equilibrium of discussion and some great laughs to everyone thinking they're a stand up comedian.

Or have it so, it serves as a more free-for-all and we can actually be allowed to discuss things relative to ITK beyond actually dissecting the literal meaning (as in perhaps if we had ITK saying Dembele is being kept in Poch's plans, we could perhaps discuss the reasoning behind that).

This thread is unique in how its moderated. It has its own set of rules that sets it apart from the rest of SC and if some people just started to use a bit of common sense, it'd be a hell of a lot easier to read, to participate in and to moderate. But as it is its pretty much incessant. Its a shame because that just results in less patience and a more heavy handed approach……...

Berahino wont be till after USngames asnPaul Smith said, of course if that happens. I cant see club makjng announcements interferring with the US media, would sound better afterwards to keep Spurs in the media headlines....

The last week reminds me of the phrase "a watched pot never boils" - a daft phrase because it's factually incorrect (I watched a pot boil just the other day) - however the sentiment is relevant to this thread. The incomings and outgoings are going to seem like they're taking forever when we're scrutinising the tiniest developments.

There probably are developments happening but I can't imagine any ITK is going to pop in here to say "heads up...page 14 of Ade's 278 page contract has just been faxed to Villa."

I reckon a lot of people on here just want ITK coming in every 10 minutes from JJ, Trix, and others saying "X is still happening/not happening".

Do you not think that the 'banter' is a lot more reduced in content, shall we say, than wades of debate on any player, first eleven or who your desired in and outs list happens to be.

I agree some of the jokes get a bit tiring (mine are fucking shite for example) but I reckon a bit more latitude for the jokes helps keep this thread flowing, and enjoyable, as opposed to two hard core types who can't back down over an argument, filling the thread up of shit which can easily be taken to the relevant thread after a while, yet it doesn't happen. That's what probably gets tiring.

I think the ITK thread is fine as it is.

Sometimes it feels like some posters get in a miff because they can't easily find the info they need to fill their blogs/pretend-ITK twitter feed. It's a community, so it's hardly a crime to act like one and interact with each other. There's transfer threads for detailed transfer discussion off the back of ITK, and a whole forum for Spurs talk of a more general nature.

Because the merits of Townsend (for instance) have been done to death in Spurs Chat ever since he broke into the side. Or Bentaleb, or Mason or………….How many times, in how many places should that all be said? There's threads for that. Use them. As for the last part of what i've quoted, again, just go to the players thread, how hard can it be?

When the ITK is quiet, by rights, so should this thread be. There are those who think this thread should be strictly ITK and strictly moderated, there are those who think it should be allowed to run rampant and there are those for whom there's an acceptable middle ground. We've tried moderating this thread in a variety of ways, from outright Nazi to stoned hippy and we've tried several formats over the years in an attempt to keep everyone happy.

But…….there's no way we can keep everyone happy, no matter what we do…..so where we are right now is at a point where we think we've struck an acceptable balance, taking bits of this and bits of that and (with a bit of cajoling and a few death threats) it all runs in the way we feel is as close as we can get to striking some sort of acceptable middle ground.

This thread is what it is, there are going to be times when it swings one way and times when it swings the other and times when I mount your mums.

If there is no new itk in the ro probably best avoiding this thread to be fair as all you'll get is talk about A&c"s ball count.
