If whats being said is true, we are somehow managing to keep things incredibly well under wraps. Especially as Berahino moving to us would be big, big news.

I'm not sceptical about the ITK because what do i know?! And i know british media is by no means the hallmark of authenticity, but its hard to believe this is close when nothing is being reported on potential deals for Werner and Berahino. We'll see!

Yes and no. We've had ITK(Paul Smith from SO) and reports(the 48 hrs bloke from the express) saying that his signing was imminent, maybe they knew he'd visited us and that was what gave them so much confidence the move was happening.

if it's true we are bringing Werner to watch us play Utd... I don't think that's the best idea...

Was thinking the same. It's like asking a young and hot girl to first date to watch you getting assraped by some big steroid monkey! Levy does not compute...

How come Berahino has been allowed to visit the training ground?
Didn't think we'd even had a bid accepted.
Imagine if we heard Kane has visited the Man Utd training ground, be a riot.
It's not ideal, I agree, but it's probably naive of us to think this sort of thing doesn't go on beneath the radar.

Not true at all.Liverpool, City, Man Utd, Chelsea have all assessed & addressed their needs going into this year. Besides that, this happens to us every year mate, every single bloody transfer window.

Now that's not true, Liverpool, city and man u haven't addressed their defense, chavs need a backup for Costa and JT and arse still need a striker and a DCM

So we should just accept that it's fine to wait for that perfect signing to happen on September 1st @11:52pm, 4 games into a season....? i happen to think that something is fundamentally wrong with our transfer policy if we always end up in the same boat year after year. And my vagina is now clear of sand, i washed it this morning thank you very much :sneaky:
You are quite frankly wrong that no other clubs have left their business as late as we have. Chelsea have just 5 senior defenders and are still in the market for a centre back and a left back. Arsenal want a forward and a midfielder. United need a striker and a centreback, as well as a GK if DDG goes. City have just two strikers so I'm sure their fans are calling for a third. Your woe is me mentality is misplaced and pissing everyone off.

I hope the Goat is right but it seems very unlikely we will have the Beharino signing wrapped up for the United game. Especially as we haven't even had a bid accepted yet.

Hopefully i'm wrong but I just don't see it happening that quickly.
If the news comes out that we've agreed a fee then things could be concluded very quickly. It'll take us longer than a few days though for us to agree a fee imo as there's absolutely no rush as far as Levy is concerned.

Like the latest Goat ITK.

I think Werner (from what I've heard) and Berahino would give us a variety of options upfront and behind the striker, and obviously getting Ade and Soldado out the door would be a bonus.

If all of that comes off then that only leaves a midfielder (possibly 2) to bring in and Lennon, Fazio and possibly Townsend to sell.

Ha...only.

I think 1 midfielder is the most that we need. That would give us: Bentaleb, Mason, Dembele, Alli, Carroll, (Dier) and NEW MF as our options for essentially two positions.

Anyone else got the feeling we have somewhat abandoned trying to get a midfielder in?
Seems like we are delaying it till the last couple of weeks at best which could be a risky strategy.

It's a concern, but I don't really care when at the moment, all that matters is that we have a new midfielder of adequate quality in by September. If we don't manage that then suddenly our window becomes a lot less successful than initially thought as CDM is just as crucial as bringing in 2 forwards in my opinion.

I'm sure Levy would love to wrap it up quickly. Problem is that it makes no sense for WBA to accept the first bid that comes along. Especially as there is always the possibility that another club could come in with a higher bid later on in the window.

I imagine if he's flying over to watch us the deal will be almost complete. And it will be good for him to see all the youngsters that we've brought through actually playing in the side in one of the biggest matches of the season. If Bentaleb, Kane, Dier, Ali, etc are playing that's got to make a good impression on a young player thinking about joining us.

The first game of the season is also probably the best time to play United at OT. Hopefully their new players won't quite have gelled yet.

To bring a player to watch one of our matches, I would assume that terms would have to be agreed with the selling club already and just contracts to be signed with the player.

You'd think so. Possibly just the medical to go?

Does Falcao not count as adequate back up for Costa? Clyne should def help Liverpool address their Defense, For Arsenal think Coquelin will be their DM so thats a fading debate and Cech has solved one of their longest standing issues.

And to keep it simple all of these teams apart from Chelsea have significantly strengthened their first teams - esp Utd and Liverpool and playing against Sterling, Aguero, Silva, Toure could be a nightmare. Only Alderwerield should broadly provide a step up vs. last season and then Trippier could be a solid upgrade on the current version of KW but these are incremental vs. game changing signings

If I were Levy I wouldn't want other clubs know we just sold all our strikers if we were still negotiating for a new one.

That would significantly drive up the price.
