We signed Stambouli who couldn't run. Fazio who can't turn and can't pass 5 yards. Holtby who doesn't have a position and can't last past 60 minutes.

People talk as if it's so completely unlikely Tottenham would make a mistake in the transfer market. We do it all the time. Look at all the deadwood we're desperately offloading.

Is it not fair to question a signing?
Common denominator here is we sold or will sell all those at a profit.

I work for a very large french conglomerate, I just spoke to a colleague in Lyon and he said Njie is rumoured to have agreed with tottenham yesterday. Just formalities to finish. It's not ITK, just rumours on the street.

A more positive highlight video of his performance against Saint Etienne (apologies if this has been posted already)

We need players in the final third who pass and move with pace, it will get the best out of a player like Eriksen and this seems to be his game.

At a young age it's no surprise that he is inconsistent, but the raw ability is there.

You know even the best players have awful games, right?

The same way I'm aware that average players can have the odd blinder? Yes I grasp that form fluctuates.

But some things in this video are pet hates of mine but that's just my personal opinion. I trust (pray) we know what we're doing (ish).

This is the mentality of a lot of posters nowadays, clamour for this guy then when hes about to sign pick him to pieces, it is genuinely shocking to think some people on here must actually smile in a day, let alone keep an open mind! and im not talking about having opinions or fears, I am talking about people forming preconceived notions before the guy has even signed! (He HAS a terrible touch, he HAS no vision) opinions are fine but how about we wait and see on the nuances of his game once he signs yeh?

The biggest judge you can often have of a player is what his fans think of him, and as far as ive seen he's almost universally praised by Lyon fans, his contribution is not under question

Good post.

There's people on here who will literally complain over anything. No matter what they will find the negative. Its tiring as well.

Looked a lot more ef effective cutting in from the left than when he's switched to the right...

Returned to training today with Lyon so I guess the transfer is not even close yet

You train until you fly and literally sign, extra medical stuff, take the picture - football is a professional like anything else.

I think because some players have sulked in past like berbatov we expect everyone to go Awol when a deal is on cards but they are an exception.

YouTube caveats etc, but I revisited this video in my nightmares last night as though I had watched a horror film just before bed!

He loses the ball 11 times, misses a 1v1, is offside...I really hope the scouting team see something I don't!

Thing is that he didn't have a great game, but still set up one goal and won a penalty. I'll take that, considering he was losing the ball in the right areas of the field and not immediately in front of his goalie. On a number of occasions when he did lose it, he was was the first one there trying to block a clearance or get it back, so has obviously got a bit of fight in him too. You could tell defenders were doubling up on him at times because of his trickery and pace, so that obviously opens up space elsewhere for others to run into.

FML, this thread has turned into a monster. It's absolutely shocking in here.

People are desperately trying to pick the bones out of the kid before he's even signed for us. Who'd be a footballer hey. I said it in the Hernandez thread and I'll say it here, this website is seemingly full of wannabe experts who most, in reality, haven't even seen a single minute of football from Clinton N'Jie and yet they've already written him off. It's embarrassing.

Read some comments from Lyon fans if you like, I couldn't give a flying crap what they think. Lyon are a selling club nowadays and that's not likely to change for a while. Their fans are used to losing their best players so have no doubt learnt how to detach themselves from caring about their players as they know just as they start to love them they'll be gone. I wouldn't expect them to be singing his praises anyway as he's only just broken through. Our new scouting system is clearly picking up on his potential more than anything else and see enough to want us to spend the money on him. Every signing has a risk attached to it, even when you'd consider it to be a slam dunk good deal it can go south on you, we all know this.

I've watched N'Jie play and whilst he absolutely is raw and has no doubt had some bad games, so has every single player in our current squad. The kid has clear ability and is nothing like any player we have right now.
