OPEN LETTER TO TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR FOOTBALL CLUB

Dear Mr Levy,
Spend some fucking money. And not just on anyone, the players Poch wants. He is clearly a good manager and you're selling the poor man so so short. Not for the first time and probably not for the last time, you've ruined mine and thousands of other people's weekends. You twat.

Sincerely,
The Fans

Pochettino needs to realise quickly that this 4231 isn't conducive to the players at his disposal.

This performance will be repeated this season if we don't accommodate players in preferred positions and better in game management in utilised.

This needs to be remedied first before we look to new signings as a saviour to our hopes.
Is there any on here that knows much about Poch's career beyond Spurs? Has he ever favoured a 433 or other formation over 4231?

I'm not normally one for knee-jerk rants, but I'm so fed up now. We're boring, lack winning mentality and leadership and have no proper understanding about creating chances in open play and keeping goals out at the other end. And now we have a weak, imbalanced squad. We'll finish top 6/8 again, but that's not good enough. The football we play is awful.

100% agree with this we are really boring to watch! We have been for three/four seasons now! We have no pace all our players are all very similar & we have no leaders no one to take control of the game! Worries me when we here talk of only bringing in at the most two more players we need more than that! we 100% need atleast one more striker (maybe 2!) and a DM along with another playmaker Eriksen is so inconsistent. Thought demblee was good today worked his socks off sadly though it's the same story with his end product and lack of it. Dier played well as well but he isn't the answer to our DM problem

We were fine first 15 of second half, went to crap when Mason and Kane came off, and Lamela was one of them.

I really want Lamela to come good but it was clear he was going to offer nothing every time the ball went to him at 2-2. He can't beat a man in the prem. At some point we need to call it a day, we can't keep carrying him hoping something clicks. He works as hard as anyone but just can't make a difference.
From what I saw we were awful for the first 15 of the second half, so we'll have to agree to disagree on that point. Yes we got worse, but we lost all momentum from the first half. And to be completely honest it should really have been 2-2 at half time, so weren't even that good first half considering how shit they were.

I still can't quite believe the way we completely buckled after Kane went off. Talk about game changing moments. If we had another striker it would have been 3 and more, game over. Clearly some lack of experience showing

It seemed to me that the substitution that did us the most damage was Mason for Bentaleb. We seemed to lose all forward momentum after that. Dier and Bentaleb don't work whereas Dier and Mason did.

For me, the wiser choice would have been Alli, as he has similarities to Mason, more dynamic.

Look at what happens when technically poor/average players like Diouf or Gomis play with fight and spirit and hunger for 90 minutes. They become dangerous Premier League frontmen.

It's what makes Suarez so great - he is technically excellent but also has the fighting spirit.

We have a bunch of very talented, gutless players picking up paychecks and showing up for bits and pieces of every match.

I don't agree that they are talented and gutless they are just not talented.
I have said for 2 seasons now that this squad is very overated and has only Kane....and that's only for 75% of last season.... and Lloris and occasionaly Eriksen that are class, the rest are very average and will not win us anything. The problem is that you can't get rid of 9 or 10 players overnight. The damage was done when we bought 8 or 9 plares in a year without much thought going in to how good they really were or if they would fit into our plans.

2 or 3 new players would make some difference obviously but it's going to take 2 or 3 years before we make any in roads and that's if we buy wisely and importantly in time, not like we have this season and in the past when the season has started.

We have some kids that have potential but potential is all it is at the moment so they are not an instant answer. Having said that I think that our midfield is so inefectual and lacking in ideas or any creativity that it might be worth giving them a spin.

Eriksen is brilliant at times but not consistent and Benteleb and Mason are not going to worry any premiership teams and Dembele looks so comfortable on the ball and moves so well that he decieves in thinking he is a good player but he just dissapears up his arse week in and week out NO END RESULT.

I think we all said with no back up what will happen if Kane gets injured. Well we might soon find out as he went off with a calf strain. I just despair at Levy's thinking and attitude in the transfer market but it will never change while he is in charge unless Mr Lewis sees the light and changes things at the top but then while we continue to make a profit he's probably quite happy.

Tbh from where i was sitting in east lower it looked like we buckled when mason was swapped for bentaleb, because kane looked like he was struggling anyway from the first minute. The combo of giving up the striker to put on lamela who couldnt keep the ball and loosing the enegry mason gave the team was what changed it for me.

As I said last season though, it isn't 4-2-3-1. It's 4-2-4 really, because the four most advanced players are basically allowed to do whatever the fuck they want with little structure, both with and more importantly without the ball. Suicidal to persist with it when under the cosh in games.

75 is pushing it but stoke needed a soft penalty to get back in. The game likely fizzles out of we see that spell out.

We had a great chance through kane not long before he went off. That goes in we win comfortably. Small margins.

Yes we came under pressure but 99% of teams don't go through a game without having to weather some kind of storm from the opposition.

It's like some people expect us to go every game 20-5 on shots. Football doesn't work like that.
Correct, but for 5/10 minutes, not for a whole fucking half against a mid table side.

The manager has just got to see the source of the problem and deal with it in time. They were whipping in dangerous cross after dangerous cross and were killing us out wide.

We should have pushed up higher to keep dangerous wide players away from the goal, played wider to deny the space out there, and taken Eriksen off for Bentaleb to cover any gaps in the centre of the park. Dier DM, Mason and Nabil CMs.

If that doesn't work and we can't press then just put up two banks and just sit on it with some structure, get Rose or Trippier on further forward to deal with wide threats.

It seems that the same old spurs was back again today which is very dissapointing but Im sure we will pick up some form soon.
I havent seen the game yet and probably wont either but seeing as we took the Grand kids to the Tower of London and I dont want to see anymore torture lol.

Ha yeah it is torture. There were positives for a long spell of the game, we have to try and pull some of them out of the wreckage.

Whilst it's piss poor that we've not addressed the weak areas by now, today was a result of nothing more than poor game management.

It wasn't as if they got their goals through an impressive 5/10 minute burst. They'd been dominating since the start of the half, and Pochettino had ages to react to it and stop it before the inevitable happened.

Signings will make our plan A more effective, but we really need to be formulating a plan B and plan C, and adapt the tactics to what is happening on the field.

Nail on head.

Don't understand why people are blaming Lamela wasn't his fault we conceded two goals if anyone to blame it is the defence. I thought Mason had a decent game too. Shame Harry went off injured it did changed the way we played quite a lot. We need a defensive midfielder and another striker. I say we need to go all out next week and sign Berahino, not sure who the other player is we need to sign but we need to sign him pretty quick.

Watching us down the years we've always had that one player that could do the spectacular, that one player that would get in any team in the league. Under 'Arry we began to become more than that, we had quality in almost every position, we were nearly there.

Now I'm just craving that 'one player' again.....

People can moan all they like about Pochettino but I feel sorry for him. He has been left without any options up front and feels like he has to play Dembélé as a winger/whatever because the lack of quality in the squad. This is after two leauge games, that is fucking rubbish. I thought this summer would be different (silly me) when we sorted out or defensive signings quite fast but no, I was wrong.

Perhaps if he did not ostracise half the squad he would have more to chose from. I am sure Lennon could have come on and do a job today!!

Where has anyone said that Lamela was the reason we lost? Every time he plays poorly and people criticise him, it's the same shit over and over again from his apologists - as if not being at fault is somehow justifiable for being a bit shit. He was diabolical today, there's no getting away from it. Lost the ball a few times and gave away four fouls, I think. All in 25 minutes. Should we just ignore that and all be such great happy-clappy supporters
Read the thread, I've sat here and read all from the final whistle. No we shouldn't ignore, but we shouldn't make him the scapegoat when many of our team went completely missing. But I'm guessing you like many others made your mind up before he even came on.
