Also 5-10 clubs, better than us, who can offer him double the money would also be in for him.

Double what money? The club could afford to do it, the same way that the above statement applied to Adebayor when we signed him - wages offset by a reduced transfer dee.

Think you misunderstood the point of the post. It is a hypothetical to see what fans think. It's not that serious. At least not meant to be on @yankspurs account.

Thank fuck. At least one person is tuned in!

Adebayor was on less than Ibra, even then City had to pay him half his wages. Ibra is out of our reach, even at his age.

So what is the point then? Either you're presenting it as a realistic transfer in which case it's pointless because it isn't realistic at all, or you're presenting it as a complete hypothetical in which case it's pointless because of course we would want one of the world's best strikers if we could have him. Either way it's a waste of time.

We gave them a signing on fee that city used to pay part of his wages.

Inra is a bigger name than ade and would bring a lot of the worlds attention on us. It would please the sponsors and help sell merchandise. We'd probably have more games shown so increased tv revenue etc...

Technically we paid City to pay him half his wages. Clever accounting.

So, to touch base, the point was around a "better player than (Berahino) from Outside of England for £20m".

If the reports are true, Zlatan is available for very little money at all, if even for free (in his final year of a contract PSG are reluctant to honour).

He's reportedly on 15 million Euros per season. If we loaned him for a season (HYPOTHETICAL, before people lose their minds again) then the club would say "We'll pay £90k a week of his salary and you pay the rest", so the parent club say "Okay, there's a £10m loan fee" (see Falcao).

Result of that would be wages still paid by the parent club, wage structure of loan club unbroken, for less than £20m.

Again, hypothetical, but a GIF made people go insane so who knows what this post will do...

It was a GIF posted in response to "(what is an example of) a better player than (Berahino) from Outside of England for £20m".

The mass hysteria that followed, with cross-examination and skim-reading lead to it being moved to a thread of it's own. If you're looking for a waste of time, your question is probably intrinsically that.

could see him going to utd though.

I'm sure I read that Ibra had flat out refused to share the same room as LVG again, never mind the same team

He's currently on €288,000 per week. If you think we can afford that your deluding yourself

Isn't he paying 75% tax in france though?

€288k is £202k

So he actually gets £50k a week after tax. Which would be around £90k a week for us before tax.

Easy.

Like we can't afford Adebayor's wages.... which (at the current rate) are/were €241,000 per week...

(for the sake of Maths lost on the quoted poster, Ade is reportedly still receiving £70k p/w from City, plus £100k p/w from us. £170k is €241k at the current rate)

He's on €160k. Ibrahimovic is on nearly double that. We're not going to sign Ibrahimovic. What can we offer him, no CL, reduced wages and playing with lower standard players. Stupid anyone is even considering this

Aye, sure lets throw in an offer of 90k a week and see what comes back....

I'm genuinely amazed people are even trying to justify this

Absolutely correct.

But if they read the thread properly, they might realise it's not the thread they think it is...

No-one is trying to justify this. We know it's not going to happen just saying why not?
