Yep our current situation is exactly the same as Leeds all those years ago. Uncanny. In no way is this a lazy cliché rolled out every other day without any consideration of context.

The over-arching principle is that Leeds spent beyond their means based on income from future Champions League qualification (that then didn't happen). How is that different?

So you'd be happy if we signed Danny Graham just because it's NOW. It's not just about this season and settling for second best - Stambouli and Fazio say hi. If we don't feel we've exhausted option 1 then there's no need to blink first.

You all need a gin and tonic, and a @Bill_Oddie reacharound.
Is the first sentence a question, or a statement? If the latter, then it's not a very fair interpretation of @Dillspur 's stance.

if wba are unwilling to come down (they may be willing we don't know) and we refuse to pay the 25m we should move on, if we go into the season with 1 recognized striker we're going to struggle

I know this might seem like a bit of a leftfield answer but...because it isn't the same.

No-one knows what's going on behind the scenes or how much WBA want or what we've offered.

Getting your nickers in a twist over reports and speculation...why don't you wait until the window closes when all is said and done?

This is entirely the point. I will allow you all to be as moany and as annoying as you all are now when that window slams shut.

There is no appreciation, it seems, for the force of the "market" itself. There's no point popping down the road to a market on a Monday morning when it's only open on Saturday afternoon.

Didn't Lee Bowyer i think it was go into a meeting with Ridsdale hoping for £40k a week and Ridsdale offered him £125k a week as an opening gambit? Ridsdale's financial management was a suicide mission, wages was what crippled Leeds not transfer fees

Levy is nothing like Ridsdale

Seth Johnson.

I know a lot of Leeds fans (unfortunately) and have heard the tales many a time; the whole thing was a nightmare. But the books were balanced on the basis that money would be recouped from CL qualification and it wasn't. Hence troubles. Wages, transfers, the lot.

Seth Johnson I think. Expecting about £30k,He offered him £60k when he nearly fell over Ridsdale said "£80k and not a penny more".

Harry, when you've finished sticking your fingers in your ears, closing your eyes and bleeting "la la la la" from whichever's orifice has the power of speech today, there's plenty of actual facts to read about our business so far. But as I said, when you're ready.
So we haven't started the season, about to go into our 3rd game, with just one striker? Have I missed something? Oh that's right, the 13th richest club in Europe overpaying by a couple of mil, would put the NPD in jeapordy. Smh.

Think it was supposed to be Seth Johnson but probably untrue

Shouldn't that have been banned in the 70s?

Does anyone know how much WBA want and how much we've bid?
There's seems to be a lot guessing going on.

i exaggerate - in a similar way to those whining now (but the irony is lost). But what sort of message does it send out that we will buckle when we're negotiating in the future?

Does anyone actually think of the seasons beyond this one? Would you rather have the second choice striker NOW and be content (who will sit on the bench and not play for two games) or Berahino on deadline day for five years?

If we had signed SB last week, would it make any difference? Genuine actual difference to our starting lineup?

I just can't understand the short-termism.

Please all read Windy's article (on The Fighting Cock) too.

Why would we not spend the money now then? What reason could there actually be?

Saving for the stadium we've been told wouldn't impact on our spending? Levy's obsessive brinkmanship? Lack of faith in managers because of a high turnover of managers/players? Spreading cash around on numerous average players instead of one or two that would make a difference? Lewis turning the screw on our spending? Levy being reluctant to buy another Bentley/Lamela/Soldado?

Lots of hypothetical reasons. If the stadium really isn't meant to impact on transfer spending, what's happened to the millions received in TV cash?
