I literally no idea who we will sign now up top. We can't even play the stick hand because we only have Kane.
The problem with leaving the buying so late is the selling club has all the power, they all know we need a striker so we'll have to massively overpay for whoever it is and what team will let a top class striker go right at the end of the window, its just all so laughable!

Only if he is our only option and we as fans and West Brom don't know that, we may have others lined up. If West Brom need to sell for financial reasons, the closer it gets to the window shutting the more nervous they may get.

I made the suggestion the other day that most clubs are more financially secure these days with all the TV money - perhaps the last minute dangle of cash isn't quite as attractive anymore for clubs down the food chain?

Yes but with all the TV money I don't see why they would need to sell for financial reasons.

The whole thing has been odd imo, leaked all the way by WBA. It's usually the buying club doing all the leaking in order to exert pressure. The selling club would usually just issue a not for sale statement and leave it at that. No need whatsoever to include any numbers or payment structures if you have no intention of selling.
The only way I see it happening now, is if Berahino plays on the weekend and the fans react badly too him and it affects the whole team.

IMO, we need to move on and we need to do it quickly, but I don't see many alternatives, unless Martial is available after Monaco's CL exit but he already turned us down didn't he? I'm hoping Embolo is an option we are looking at but there has been no ITK on him that I am aware.

Earlier in the month we had news from Levy himself, that a lot of business, by the nature of the process, would be toward the end of the month.

Notwithstanding Peace's protestations about the lateness of our approach, negotiations will have been going on for probably most of August. His agent will have acknowledged our approach and given us the green light to speak to the WBA a long while ago.

Now, if Peace was adament that his rhetoric earlier this evening, is his final word, he would have not given Levy the rope with which to keep this process going. He woludn't even have given the bids made and publicity, or have his key striker get to the point, in order to push his sale through, of handing in a transfer request.

It's my opion, that this whole charade is by numbers and will culminate in a Aug 31st sale to us with Peace having got across to his fan base, that he's extracted every penny from a notoriously tough negotiater in Levy so that he's looked after the best interests for the club. He has his replacements in so that part of his statement is a smoke screen and more guff to fluff up his stance.

Berahino will be a Spurs player.
He already handed in a transfer request so that can't be the motivation for making the bids public.

Think that he's angling for a bidding war knowing that Yanited are also in need.

This was always going to happen when Danny boy stepped into the ring with a fellow cueball. There's always going to be aggro when you get two of them together - too much testosterone. Scalp on scalp rutting til dawn. Almost literally like two bald men fighting over a comb...

Too right. We are a joke. I am really worried now. Same old same old trying to be too clever and it is coming back to bite BIG time. Where is the DM Poch so obliviously needs. I bet Mitchell is wondering why he joined .

Ever think that maybe this is a rant best saved till AFTER the transfer window shuts? No? Ok.

When bee's swarm can you pick out individual ones? Of course not. He's just beating the crowd. Early worm and all :)

Worms and bees in one post. That's just poor form.

We're not a joke yet

We could be signing Son, we have signed N'jie

Son came out of nowhere (and after lots of the wobblers had said that was it - no new signings possible). It's quite possible there are back-up options.
Don't panic yet

I still thing Levy doesn't pay £18m+ for a back up forward like Berahino, and it seems nor does Levy, or at least not over anything less than a load of staggered payments. Will he pay it for a first choice support forward like Son? That's different.
And I hope that's the way this is going tbh.
