I still think that on balance Levy has been a positive for the club, but you can't deny that today has been a massive fuck up by notbringing in a back up striker.

No use bitching about it now though, the windows shut and Levy is going nowhere, so all we can do is get behind the team.

This is just a farse. I dont know if it is the dissapointment that is speaking now, but the way the window ended I would take 8th this season if it got offered to me now. 1 striker? Dier, Bentaleb, Mason and Alli as our four midfield options? Look at that last sentence for a bit, think it over, and tell me that you are happy with that. I will be the first to say that I like all of them, and that I think all of them are talents, but if someone told me at the beginning of the summer that Dier would be a first Choice Central midfielder and that Kane would be our only striker when the transfer was shut I would not have believed it. In any other business Levy would have been sacked, I cannot remember to have witnessed mismanagement like this. I dont care about broken promises from WBA. Isnt that the same as happened last night with Lamela/Marseille? That happens and that is why we had around 100 days since the end of last summer to sort it out, and why we shouldnt have let all the eggs in one basket. I am so angry now. Nothing would make me more happy than Spurs to surprise me this year, but Pochettino should not be expected to achieve anything else than just above midtable.
Agreed

What staggers me is this whole 'we've totally reshaped our scouting network' thing.

It's a lie. We can't have done, we are going after Berahino (who we cannot afford) with no better value alternative.

Look at Everton ffs! They have signed 2 players who I have never heard of from South America, around the £10m mark. One of them is a striker.

What the hell are we up to? It's a total joke.

What happens if they're shit? Does your argument still stand?

Let's shut the forum down then? This one, and every other fan forum for every other team on the web?

You can have an opinion. That doesn't mean it is right, or can't be countered. Why do people constantly confuse these two things. You can say whatever the fuck you like, but ultimately someone else with a more-informed opinion can you shoot you down - and surely you believe that the football professionals know more than you? Don't you? Do you genuinely think you know better? Really?

And how the official site change Son Heung Min's profile from Midfielder to Striker is just shocking. Slimey backtracking and coverup there on the part of thr club to do some PR damage control.

They must think the fans are duh-uh-dumb
Except that was proved to be complete bollox.

Maybe try and look at it this way...

We don't currently have the wage budget to get players in who could get us into the top four mix.

The striker situation is ludicrous, but I think that this squad is (slightly) too good to get sucked into a relegation battle. This way, it's perfectly likely that next season we will avoid the Europa League - a nothing, identity-less competition which, let's face it, we won't win anyway - and be able to put in more of a showing in the PL.

Having said that, there's such a massive glass ceiling between Spurs and the top clubs at the moment that I've found myself not caring as much over the last couple of seasons. I hate to blaspheme, but try it... it feels quite nice.

There's every chance that the two or three players everyone was hoping we'd get in would, in real terms, have been the difference between us coming 5th and coming, say, 10th.

I'm aware I've basically only delivered a slightly more elaborate version of "there's always next year", which is arguably pretty stupid this early in the season, but to everyone kicking off over today - you can't do anything to meaningfully affect any of this, so take a deep breath and try not to worry too much about it.

What a bloody shambles. Pathetic that we didn't get a DM in and absolutley pathetic that we didn't get a back up player for Kane. As others have said we should have at least signed a squad player for the Kane back-up. What a mess on deadline day yet again.

Thoroughly agree with nearly all of that, and especially with the general sentiment. But as long as it's not done at a match to the detriment of the team, I think that the events of this summer - and especially today - justify people having a bit of a vent on SC this evening.

It's not a good day for us, but before we go to hard into Levy just remember who he is and what he's done to our club.

Remember where we were before he took over (in 11 years, we only finished 3 times in the top half of the table). He did an amazing job here and he's a great chairman. He has his flaws but he's done us a world of good.

aww you missed out the "be careful what you wish for" on the end.

We have done a great job at shipping out dead weight, and I truly do believe our starting 11 has improved with Son. But, we are absolutely fucked if Kane or one of our cms get injured. Truly failing Poch by not bringing in a proper CF or a CDM.

I am not all doom and gloom.

According to reports we made first contact to get SB 4 months ago. IMHO I do not think the net spend was an issue, and I would rather that we did not just pay what Chairman want for players. We do not know what the final figures being touted for Peace were, and in the scheme of things we have not had league) aa bad Transfer Window.

Son could be a star, Trippier is a good signing and N'jie could be exciting.

We also do not know what formation Poch is going to play. We have Kane, Chadli contributed last season, Son has shown he can score (albeit in another league) and looking at the games at Stoke and v Everton we have shown that players like Mason are not scared to get forward and contribute to the goal tally.

Yes I would have lover to get SB, but we dealt with a chairman who wasn't going to deal.

It is impossible to say how this Transfer Window was, lets hold judgement till Christmas at the very earliest and see how the team is developing.

I don't think anyone can really be surprised at this outcome, we've all been here before. I actually think we have improved the squad, so from that point of view I'm reasonably happy. However, to leave us so weak in two key positions is a massive risk and may well have disastrous results. As others have said, if that does happen (eg Kane gets a bad injury) it will be Poch who will pay the price, not the teflon chrome domed one. Same old, same old. Round and round we go. It's great that we did some good business early but leaving these key two positions to the very last minute (yet again) is nothing short of negligent. Having said all that, I am very much looking forward to seeing Son and Njie in action. COYS!

But they're SIGNINGS. And it means Everton finish higher on Sky Sports TABLE OF SIGNINGS.

That's what's important. Signing people. Just keep signing them.

I'm not going to overreact nor am I going to sugar-coat like some on here.

I'm optimistic but also bitterly disappointed.

Levy has failed this window - that is without doubt. Lets see what Pochettino can do.

Poor fucker. As for Kane.

We can change and reshape all the scouts and network we want. We can sign all the Arnesens, the Baldinis in the world. Nothing eill change as long as its thr same fucking sanctioning the deals and signing the cheque book
