Everton are probably the most counter attackable team in the league and are highly vulnerable to P.P.D. (pace, power and directness), which Stoke used to great effect. With that in mind I'd pick Chadli, Alli and Son behind Kane, with Mason alongside Dier in midfield.

Edit: Wtf and Spam rate all you like, but I rewatched our game against Watford and also Eveton's games vs Stoke and Leicester and what I noted was how quickly and how directly they moved forward when half a chance of a counter attack appeared, and in comparison how much we, Lamela in particular, dithered around and lost the impetus. Son's goal, wonderful as it was, covered over a multitude of sins and we should have put that game to bed comfortably. So for that reason, in this particular game, I wouldn't select Lamela or Eriksen, much as we'd miss the former's hard work and the latter's dead balls, but I'd go with more directness.

Davies has to play otherwise Delafou (sp) will tear Rose a new one or should I say he will run a mock in the empty space that Rose should be in

Think we need to be robust at the back, as Everton have some good attacking players, so I'd probably go for Davies at LB, recognising he doesn't offer as much going forward.

With Dembele out we're forced into a change, and despite wanting to rotate I'd only bring one in rather than rotate another, so think Mason comes in (Bentaleb has hardly played so he can only be on the bench) alongside Dier

The 3 behind Kane pick themselves, but I'd definitely bring Son on after 60 minutes to re-invigorate things - I'd also like to bring on 2 from Bentaleb, Chadli and Onomah to increase their match fitness for future match rotation

Bench largely picks itself, but tough to choose between Trippier and Rose as there is not room for both.

Lloris
Walker Alderweireld, Vertonghen Davies
Dier Mason
Lamela Eriksen Alli
Kane

Subs: Vorm, Trippier or Rose, Carroll, Onomah, Bentaleb Chadli, Son

Only problem is IMO this might be a bit narrow - but to get width we need to trade off defensive security by bringing in Rose or Trippier at FB, or alternatively Townsend on the bench !

This should be a really entertaining match; a high scoring one, at that. We've got a phenomenal defense, but Everton have been playing some phenomenal attacking stuff recently. I see this as a 3-2 type match and Hopefully in our favor.

Honestly they were gobshite at the lane.We should have hammered them 5-0 if not for some poor finishing.

No reason we cant do them at Goodison.Very leaky defence.

Yes I too see this as a 2-3 match and think Mason needs to come in. I don't want Carroll playing in this. I know he has a lot of fans on here, and I like him too, but not in this match. The other positions pick themselves.

Also completely outplayed them on final day of last season at their place. Keep Lukaku quiet and we can get something. Verts and Toby will know him well.

Had a re-think. Now that Dembele is injured I think we should pair up Dier and Alli in midfield again. Get Eriksen central and try to get him back in form. Eriksen is a top player and we need him firing...

Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Dier, Alli, Lamela, Eriksen, Son; Kane

I'm torn between Rose vs Davies for this one. Davies has done very well these past few weeks but Rose offers a lot more going forward. Toughie.

With Moussa out, I'd bring Mason in, bringing Eriksen back for Carroll. We're going to miss Moussa but I fancy Mason to come back with a bang. The alternative would be to play Bentaleb slightly higher (where he played for the youths) or bring in Onomah (most like for like player we have for Moussa). Both these players are more like Moussa than Mason however I think we need Mason's grit & determination and quick passing forward for Everton so he gets the nod from me.

Bentaleb seems to be in the bad books.
Somethings not right is it? Didn't make the bench v Watford. I think since August he has played more minutes for Algeria than for us. Although I can understand people on this thread including him in their preferred teams, I think there is little chance of him starting against Everton. Unless, of course, Poch is trying to outwit Everton, but that doesn't seem his style.
Maybe against Leicester in the cup may be Nabil's way back in to favour, unless something else is going on.

I think Poch was really annoyed at Bentaleb going off to play for Algeria and rightly so!
We paid his wages while he was injured and then when he was back fit, he went off to Algeria and got injured again!

I hope we never start him again, the Algerians on the Spurs facebook page really annoy me with their 'Bentaleb is the future for Spurs' comments.

If you believed that Carroll deserved a start after scoring a goal in a game where we were comfortably ahead against Norwich, then why wouldn't you think Son deserves a start in this game after scoring a massive goal against Watford? Not to start Son, especially when Dembele is out, would be asinine. Mason and Bentaleb have hardly played in months and on merit do not warrant a starting place in this match. The triumvirate of Son/Eriksen/Lamela is the best threesome we have behind Kane, and they need games together to gel. Son is at his best on the left, and Eriksen has been better this season when playing centrally, and I think these three would have a field day against a porous Everton backline. Alli and Dier can play together in midfield, just like they did against City.
