Switched off at HT (3 AM for me) disappointed that the XI had been setup to use the width of the pitch in the final third and weren't crossing deep into the box when Palace were arrogantly tucking in.

Rose was wasting possession and Trippier wasn't even being used; great to see that Poch stuck to the (sound) tactics but shifted the XI to get better delivery in via Chadli on the right and having the full backs play a little more defensively to stop Palace countering down the wings. Huge bonus that Dier got a rest really.

I've been waiting years for a Spurs team to have the technical excellence and self-belief to pull off such tactical depth.

That's not quite how football works, if Alli didn't score how do you Chadli would have had the space to score his 3rd?

His goal changed the game.
He is not to be questioned. These fans from across the Atlantic are beyond reproach.

Ta
You know that if you take away his goal we still would have won, don't you? Fucking good goal but his poor performance does matter contrary to what you say or believe. Chadli on the other hand was the match changer when he came on.
Why are you introducing Chadli to the discussion?

Nah mate, don't be silly.

I actually think if Alli doesn't buck his ideas up we should consider selling him.

Why do people retroactively go through match threads and neg people who've expressed opinions? Not even talking about stuff like "Alli is so shit", but things like "why aren't we testing the keeper".

Even the "Alli is shit" stuff. Sport is emotive...people react emotionally. For me the match thread is the online equivalent of shouting at the TV in the heat of the moment.

It's a great release for nervous tension during a game. Seems a bit churlish to lay into people after the fact as a way of appearing superior. People vent. People are emotional. Get over it.

Dele Alli - https://vine.co/v/ielYTIZZgFh
Irish footballer Stephanie Roche - https://vine.co/v/ODhDATpM1Fi

A mirror image...

Your comment about a mirror image has got me thinking.........

What if we started a new dating agency within the Spurs Academy, which would introduce top young male and female footballers to each other, like Delli Alli and Stephanie Roche for example? After all that's what they do with racehorses!

We could finish up with easily the best academy in the world by 2032, and win the Champions League every season. In addition we would supply the entire team to play for England, so effectively Tottenham would also be the best footballing country, and we would finally win back the World Cup!

Now I know this is a radical idea, but think about it....... and keep it secret!

I can pretty much guarantee that a thread without the bollocks would be much more popular and enjoyable. Generally speaking, most people post in the match thread using a sensible and measured manner, even in the heat of the moment but there seems to be a hardcore element who use the kind of thing your saying as an excuse to perpetrate idiocy and agenda on a grand scale, this is obvious because when the 'heat of the moment' is over, they still defend a position, such as todays winning gem…."Loris is a liability".

Another example today is the DellyAlly affair, to sub or not to sub………whichever way you leaned (and many wanted him subbed but i'd bet just as many didn't but couldn't be arsed to get involved), having that opinion is fine, but when you then call into question the manager as if you know better or in a way that makes it seem your opinion is correct and final, then some people will get the itch. The cockyness of certainty being blown out of the water, its too tempting to pass……..I'll say it again, posting bollocks and then hiding behind the claim that the people knocking you are using 'hindsight' is poor. Its poor for many reasons including because its the same people posting said bollocks week in week out. Its poor because sometimes, not always but sometimes, its brought up in a jesty, jokey way and its poor because effectively you're saying you can say what you like with no comebacks. And thats definitely bullshit right there.

For me its not just the offering up of onions, its the way they are offered that can create friction. In a big way. Especially when the same perps make the same stupid comments week in, week out. There's one guy who shall remain unnamed, who pretty much weekly tells everyone we're not good enough to come back from a goal down (we've done it more times than any other team this season IIRC) or he can't see us scoring one, let alone two (we scored four). Weekly. Every fucking week. So when is this guy going to learn? Is he not going to think to himself, hang on a minute……..I keep on getting this wrong, maybe I should just slightly not be so certain, maybe I don't know it all……..Maybe I should stop making myself look like a complete mug………..Seriously, why is it some people can't show a little humility now and again. Being right on a football forum isn't important and it doesn't mean people reading it will nod and go yeah, hes right, must have a big knob…….Yet it must do.

I have no idea where i'm going with all this its just a random collection of thoughts and i'm sure in several places i've talked like a fluffyminge……..someone with some hindsight will shoot me down. I have no problem with that, i'll still retain my masculinity, I wont see it as a slight on my manhood and i'll still have a twelve inch tallywhacker…………A real life one not a philosophical one :p

EDIT: Oh and nervous tension? Sorry but I can't see that. Perhaps i'm being harsh or i'm very very wrong but i'm not having that. From having the initial reaction "ooooh fucks sake Spurs" to formulating the thought, to posting it in here must take a certain amount of time. Time enough (at the very least) to have the opportunity to stop and think about what you're saying. Its a (relatively) long time between thinking Rose is a **** to posting it.

I don't mind Lamela being rested, he's played a lot and his last couple of games haven't been great and we have the squad to rotate, but Alli's 19, has been struggling in games for weeks, and isn't right as a ACM or an ALM anyway.

Apart from a very small, but repetitive minority of our fans, most have felt that Alli's been playing well these last few weeks. Yes the occasional game where he's drifted, or failed to to properly impose himself, but also the occasional game where he's done something special, or been the difference, and between them a whole bunch of decent performances. I look to see some hint of your criticism amongst fellow fans, from the media, in his statistics, anywhere, and can't find it, only thing is he's not Jenas I guess, or Bentaleb, or Lamela... poor boy!

Fine margins indeed, Bentaleb gives the ball away that leads to two goals and suddenly he's not good enough for Tottenham despite being a mainstay in the team last season, that's how it goes sometimes.
I'm sure Poch will remind Alli about what he still needs to work on. And I'm sure Bentaleb will be back.

Who cares? Who cares if someone wants to rant about Rose? If someone wants to claim that Lloris is a shit keeper? Why does it matter?

It matters because people want to rant about how much bigger their golden cockerel is than the next person. What's the fucking point of a forum that doesn't allow venting? I'm not saying that those opinions can't be taken up as points of discussion, but isolating emotional and immediate responses seems redundant to me.

I've pretty much given up posting during matches. Maybe I should just adopt a position of saying "it's OK, we'll win 3-1", or some variation regardless of how the game is going.

I get your point about the tiredness of repeated prejudice, but surely a football forum is one of the few places where someone can feel free to chat an endless stream of shit? Picking up on idiocy after the dust has settled is one thing, but it seems like a pyrrhic victory to claim the moral high ground once events have transpired in our favour.

Sure you can feel free to chat an endless stream of shit, that we are all then subject to reading.

Then you must be responsible for your actions and deal with the repercussions. It's a two-way street - Cause and effect.

If you want that kind of vent then take a piece of paper and write your hate and anger there, just because there's emotion doesn't mean you have the right to subjugate us to it and we just have to deal with reading absolute shit, I for one am not here to read worthless drivel.

Second game this season, Alli had a poor first half in LW position. Poch persists with him & changes him to CM. Then Alli scores & we win. People including me felt Alli had to go off in first half. I believe that is right even looking at hindsight

Thing though is we are fans & Pochettino is a coach & a very good one. He saw Alli's bad game was down to Palace marking him out well in LW. Instead, he brings in Chadli, moves Alli to CM. Bingo game changes. Alli starts getting into the game, Chadli winning headers from Lloris kick & flicks on to Kane. All of a sudden, there was new thrust in the 2nd half.

Goal of course is world class. But I believe, even if he hadn't scored then, we may have found a winner.

Words can't describe how I feel about Pochettino as our coach. He is the perfect role model, puts commitment & discipline before anything. He is the only current PL manager who does justice to the new football jargon 'Philosophy'. In addition, the man is tactically brilliant. Yes, there has been few games in past where his tactical changes didnt work. But now his team is coming to gether & so does his tactical maneuvers in middle of game.

So, happy. So so happy
