I just refuse to believe we would leave our season on a knife edge over one position. It could make all the difference to our future. We will never have a better chance of top 4 and what a statement to make to the young ones and the more experienced ones like Hugo and Jan etc if we can do it this season. He clearly doesn't rate chadli and son up top otherwise we would've seen em more in cup games. It's telling that even when we have started son up top in cups Kane always comes on. So to leave it so open is such a risk when we have decent cover for every other position apart from arguably our most important one. I get that he doesn't want people for the sake of it but there must be someone even on loan I.e doumbia or someone like that. Guess as always it's buckle up and enjoy the ride lol

Conversely do you not think it speaks huge amounts to the players that we have. Poch trusts them and believes they can do the job.

Newcastle lost the league in '96 because they twisted and brought Asprilla in in February. It's absolutely no guarantee of improvement.
Granted, but I'd still rather have someone we can bring on to give Kane a rest, or play if he gets injured. It's just too risky for my liking.

Poch is clearly happy with Son, Njie and Chadli (and Dembele), and after his call on Dier, he deserves faith

And in '72 Man City were top of the table in March - paid a club record fee for Rodney Marsh, and finished fourth. In attempting to integrate their new star player, they had lost their focus.

Yeah he trusted them so much he still started Kane against Colchester .

There is a disparity between what Poch says and his actions.

Agree. Don't understand why lamela, Kane, etc needed to play against Colchester.

I'm worried that whatever we're being quoted now will be far less than we'll have to pay in the summer cos of the new tv deal.
One new signing could really give our team a boost, a little bit more depth and confidence.

Well, we need cover, so I'm assuming poch is content with current options. I have no idea why we wouldn't take a punt on someone like Jordan Rhodes... And by that I mean Jordan Rhodes.

When does Levy actually come through on a Manager's targets. Always the same old story not for sale or the selling club want too much for the player but its usually not too much just more than we are willing to pay whilst reportedly wanting £14m for the likes of Townsend ourselves.

All last summer. Don't be a drama queen because we might miss out on a 19 year old who probably wouldn't have got much if any game time.

Understand desperate obsession with need for backup striker, but if/when Harry does get injured and we do have a backup striker just for the sake of it that player will obviously be nowhere near as good or effective as Harry. So it's all very well saying if we don't get backup in, it will be criminal mis management. But the chances are that if we did get backup, chances are he wouldn't slot in perfectly. It takes players particularly forwards a while to adapt to new systems and I imagine adapting to a system as intricate and as gruelling as Poch's system would be far harder than any usual tactical scenario.

So I wouldn't be as apocalyptic with rage as many others if/when we don't get another striker. There is little guarantee he would hit the ground running. I mean look at Soldado. Quite obviously a quality striker but imagine if we had just bought him now without any prior knowledge of his history.

By all accounts, his deal with 'Boro fell through because of his demands.
He's on a very good deal at Blackburn and I wouldn't want us to get silly for a backup like him.

Looking increasingly likely that we'ĺl sign no-one before the deadline.
We are apparently bring sensible not paying big for likes of SB or MD. All very laudable but another good striker could cement top 4 and even see us have real tilt at title - worth paying big for that IMO. We might never get an opportunity like this again.
