It's funny, because we had some ITK a few days ago about something else and buried in it was something about Eriksen only having two years left and I queried that at the time, I wonder if he's been refusing to sign a new contract, knowing there are bigger offers out there, and if he won't sign a new contract then the two year "sell" klaxon is obviously going off at Levy Towers.

He said recently that he's close to signing a new contract and thought he could achieve his ambitions at Spurs. Vertonghen and Lamela also have 2 years left, and I'm not worried about any of them.

Wasn't there ITK on him waiting for Poch to sign his new deal before he extended his?

You know I am very much a fan of Pritchard, and I am also a staunch believer that we need to be looking inwards for solutions more than we are, but I really don't think he'd be able to replicate what Eriksen brought last season. I'm not even sure we could easily go out and buy what Eriksen brought last season.
I don't think Eriksen is as intelligent as you think. He quite often makes the wrong decision in good situations.

Which is strange for a player who has said in an interview that he's always seeking to make the most impactful choices in the final third.

He's a big asset for us, no doubt, but I think people overstate his contribution (don't throw a bag full of stats at me please, mate).

If the itk is onto something and he ends up going to Italy I think we'll be ok.

If he stays that's super great; but I don't fear him leaving.

Eriksen is a fantastic young player. I'd be gutted if we sold him.

I do however feel that we need a similar player to rotate him with

I am under no illusions that he's perfect - I think I actually wrote a very long piece about his lack of assists last season - but I think he improved enormously this season in every respect. He was second highest assist maker in the EPL this season behind the 40m Ozil and he's 3 years younger than him, he also had the most chances created and the third highest Key passes per game, and saw more of the ball in games than any other regular AM bar Silva I think - compared to the rest of our lot he's fucking Einstein. I think you underestimate his influence on our season.

I have faith in Eric and Dele sorting him if required.

+1. Wiltshire would have seen the Chelscum v Us match and will know only too well what will come his way if steps out of line against one of ours. The other 4 will prove the adage "What goes around, comes around." :sneaky:

Yup. Whilst we have a lot of players who have more desire, and look more aggressive, I'd say Eriksen is our only calm influence.

Without him I think we'd look both like a bunch of lost dogs running around with little cohesion imo.

It's a number that is depressing. We are in CL, they aren't. We have an awesome new stadium coming, theirs will take years. We have a far bigger fan base than them. We have the best young team in the country, their squad requires total overhaul. Yet still they can get £60M a season just for their kit. Incredibly depressing to think the objective perception is that Chelsea is that much of a bigger club than Tottenham.

hmmmm there's the small matter of Chelsea having had way way more success than us this past 20 years.

All those top 4/5 positions of ours and a couple of league cups look shite compared to what Chelsea have achieved in that time.

What bullshit again? I sit with great anticipation, to see the list you draw up which states the 'star players' Levy has sold, that didn't make it clear they wanted a move, leaving Levy with nothing to do, other than demand the biggest possible figure for the player.

same bullshit, not reinforcing incoming transfers. Never had a problem with Levy selling our biggest when they want out

Eriksen not going anywhere and it must be contract renewal time but not across it.
If you guys or the press knew about Harry Kanes recent contract updates etc you would have all melted down.
This goes on all the time so be chilled.
We are hoping Pritchard will figure more next season too though. Don't see us selling Bentaleb either.
We still need a bigger squad for champs league so possibly 3 or 4 coming in.
Batman still looks like number 1 choice up front so hopefully we can get it done and quickly.
Not enough quality players in the world for what the premier clubs want next season!

Nah. I trust me eyes.

Agree he improved this season, though.

And he is a big player for us, I don't doubt that.

First proper juicy ITK from JJ there.

Good to hear about Eriksen and Bentaleb. Pleasantly surprised about Pritchard, especially as it seems like there's a decent chance we'll buy someone else to play in the '3'- maybe Onomah will go out on loan?

As JJ says I certainly hope Batshuayi is done quickly but it is looking increasingly likely it will be a post-Euros transfer.

I am guessing the 3 positions are Striker, AM3, and CM, with the 4th possibly being another CM, Striker or (probably) RCB.

That's ended that little discussion then.

Sweet.

Don't see us selling Bentaleb either.

Hmmm, still feel their personalities are at odds tbh. Didn't poch get the 'ump with him going off on international duty after an injury?

Yup.

What about Chilwell?

Thanks JJ! For me one of the things i'm most looking foward to next season is seeing Pritchard feature for the frist team. Lad will light up the league imo
