Interesting that Poch expects more signings (plural). I think we all figured GK N'Koudou would be our last player in.

Good news if they've found a CM alternative to Dembele! :)
We can hope but I think it's more likely to be someone like Malli.

I will wait and see. If we get more players that strengthen us great. If not we haven't really got any holes in the squad.

I'm not getting on the rollercoaster this year. Enjoy the ride.

I think there is still a big hole when Dembele is not there and - despite his brilliance - you can't rely on him to stay fit.

I hope Poch and Mitchell have started planning for life after Dembele and have identified some special players who we could rotate with Dembele and gradually bring into that position over the next two seasons.

For me, Wanyama is an alternative to Eric Dier. He is not a ball carrier or a particularly good passer of the ball (plenty of Saints fans have told me that), so he's not the answer.

Agree with a lot of that

Possible that he considers we're covered there with Alli, Mason, Carroll, Onomah, Winks who can all play there - to more or less an extent anyway!

This thread is getting dangerously close to going completely off track. I can sort of see discussion drifting toward what we have and need.....sort of. But it's being discussed elsewhere like in the scouting thread in Spurs Chat not to mention probably in each of the players threads whos names are cropping up, so there's really not much need for it in here.

And there's definately no need for the tit for tat over ratings if you need to get rid of some angst, have a power-wank.

So it would be appreciated if you read the above, digested it and reacted accordingly.

Or are you........

Dangerously close? It is a dangerously close as the titanic was to that iceberg.

And yet you're standing in the queue with everyone else.

I might watch everyone screaming their heads off. But i'll sit back and have a guiness.

We have a decent squad. But some on here will work themselves into a frenzy over a tenuous link to a player we've never heard of. Then totally lose their shit when we don't get them. Then be all doom and gloom about how we'll finish midtable.

They know what they are doing and what is possible with the resources available. If it's not right for us don't do it.

Nkoudou (if we get him i'll learn how to spell his name or just call him percy) seems to be rellying on njie going. I think apart from that we'll wait till the end of the window to sell a few and see who's surplus to requirement at other clubs.

ali z: I was always told 4 maybe even 5 but dependent on out goings

I could see 5 coming in - but that would include a youngster or two for the future.

So far we've seen squad depth with an alternative striker in Janssen and an alternative DM in Wanyama and it's still in the balance for the winger we know of, not sure we will see any more prominent players.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if we've identified a young player who could fulfill some of what dembele offers, or at least someone who would be the more progressive of the Cm 2. You have to be opportunistic, so if a young player, on our list etc, is gettable now you make your move.

There's a number of young players who are a cut above what we've already got and potentially affordable. At moment we have depth is most positions but whereas we have numbers, we lack quality. It's especially alarming when our youth players look better than the senior squad players currently standing in their way. We will be much better off having the 1st team regulars with another 1-2 snapping at their heels and 1-2 hot youth team prospects eager to get some game time... than instead, having to rely on the likes of Carroll, Mason, Chadli etc
