Reason is clear and obvious, we don't play the high press as intensive and aggressive as last season.

Part of that reason is the absence of Kane.
In addition Alli and Eriksen, in general, have not been playing as well as they had last season.

We should also not forget that the absence of Toby may have contributed to the goal today.
With him around, it gives the other defenders more confidence and better organisation.
We also miss his long cross field accurate passes to start new attacks.

Even allowing for the bad header from Wanyama, I think we should have dealt with it better. Dier's got to do more for me there.

Be quiet! The man's on a roll here.
Your "ponderous" post still doesn't make sense, though. I know you tried to dress up my comment about the tendency of Dembele to dribble sideways as some sort of justification, but it doesn't. You just misunderstood it, that's all.

Indeed, but not TOO counter productive.........we're still (by and large) picking up points whilst not consistently performing anywhere near our capabilities. Hopefully any improvement comes sooner rather than later. I'm still unsure as to wether or not Kane returning will light that spark.

I don't think Kanes return will make too much difference. The issues lie in the AM3 and their inability to create or supply.

They need to play with far more tempo & use width instead of continually trying to play through the middle and looking for a pass through the eye of a needle.

I just wish someone knew what has gone wrong since the Mcity game and put it right. We are like 2 different teams, a before and after,

When Lamela takes a risk and fails, everyone is against him. I think he's better than Eriksen in the central position. His corners are a damn sight better, too.

Completely agree, at least if Lamela has an off game he is pressing, wanting the ball and not hiding.

It's not the end of the world we are still high up the table.

I rememeber the all out attack days and we would lose 5-3 or go 3 up and lose 4-3. Getting a solid defensive unit is very tough and we have achieved that, i feel with a little tweaking, maybe a kick up the arse to a few of these players, it might start to click going forward and we will all be jizzing over the match threads again. I just feel the furstration is really kicking in becasue some of high profile players, just don't seem to be on form at the moment at all.... The City game proved how we can attack, it's buried somewhere in there, Poch needs to unlock it.

Football sucks. If alli scores we go on to win handsomely imo. They are not a good outfit but that silly equaliser allowed them to drop deep.

Last season we were getring that earlier goal and then going on to lut e or 4 last teams, but at the moment our attacking is so conservative that we do not look threatening.

Im sure BC or some one may have some stats but does anyone run up the pitch. Stop and pass the ball back more than us. Genuine Q

Like my idea, that's a theory that may or may not have merit. You pays your money you takes your choice...... I just think not having gone any length of time without Kane in the team its possibly a coincidence, but maybe not, we'll find out a few games after his return. Maybe :(

I'd love for my theory to be utter bollocks and for Kane to return smashing goals in for fun. As you say, we'll see.

Missed the whole game. Can someone give me a quick run down as to what it was like? How did we play?

It really fills me with joy we've decided to repeat last season's ever-so-successful tactic of drawing a good chunk of our games. Excellent.

Be merciless my fellow fans!....
No chance we are going for the title this season, playing like this we are going to be lucky to get top 4.

No pace, originality or anyone on the bench to bring on that would make a difference. Watching the Pool game and although they are suicidal at the back they have one thing we can only dream of, pace and speed moving the ball in the last third.

When fit, the likely midfield of Lamela, Eriksen and Dele have zero pace. Therein lies the problem with this team, with or without Kane. Time has moved on with pace in Chel$ea, Citeh, Arsenal and now Liverpool. It's about time that Poch realised this.
