So good that nights like tonight will convince him that he should be playing for a top 5 in europe club. SorryHugo is so fucking good. There, I had to end on some sort of positive.
Nothing against GKN he may well become a decent player, but when you qualify for the CL off the back of a great campaign we really should have been setting our sites higher.Remember when we were all waiting
Remember when we had that long wait to sign Georges Kevin-N'Koudou?
Money, experience and achievement.Top 4............what's the point !?!?
Slightly better??
And how easy are these players to find at the prices we would pay?Nothing against GKN he may well become a decent player, but when you qualify for the CL off the back of a great campaign we really should have been setting our sites higher.
I'm not saying it's all doom and gloom but I have to say that apart from beating city a while back in haven't enjoyed this season thus far.Just saying it's not all doom and gloom just yet is it. And just pointing out that Poch is still learning at this level.
Look at the tripe Wenger has been serving up in the CL year after year, this is Poch's first crack at it.
I'd bite your arm off for an FA cup win. But you just know we'll be drawn away against Liverpool in the third round.Don't want Europa. Hope we finish last and focus solely on the league and cupds.
I'm not in screeching hysterical mood like some bozos on here tonight but clearly this was unacceptable.
My take is that Poch's heart isn't in the CL and that has clearly bled into the mentality of the players.
We have not taken it seriously enough. We've played reserves. We've rested players for the CL and we've paid the price.
These aren't bad players by any means. But clearly Poch hasn't come up with the goods and inspired them for this. I don't think the quality of our group has helped. It was an uninspiring, Europa League like group and we've come with a Europa League mentality.
We had a great season last year but the only tangible thing we got out of it was CL. Now we've thrown that away to focus on the league, the best we can hope to get from realistically is more CL. What's the point?
I would suggest that it's unlikely that Poch has decided on a different team tactic (I. E. Not to press), and that, A. The players aren't following his instructions to the letter, or B. They are unable to (through fear, lack of belief, or lack of ability)The baffling thing is that last year we were the trend setters - literally we showed the country what high pressing was.
What happened?
Great look forward to Saturday then, meanwhile back at the ranch , we're out of the champions league , when we had our first choice centre back and right back wrapped in cotton wool on the bench , indefensible (quite literally) however way you look at itReally? If Vertonghen had got injured, we wouldn't have a left back. Poch's concentrating on the league. I believe we will be up for the match on Saturday.
Odd team selection, bizarre set up and pretty pointless subs. The team played attrociously but Poch carries the can for this one for me
Our attacking verve and front pressing has entirely disappeared, this surely can't be by design if so it is utterly backwards and if not you have to question why the players simply are not executing it
Last season it was a struggle to say who was MOTM in most games, this year it's a struggle to say if anyone has deserved it at all
Its not easy obviously, but we spent, what, close to £70m and Wanyama aside didnt improve the first team. C'mon man, surely you can see that is pathetic. And how easy are these players to find at the prices we would pay?
