It seems that Everton are going to sign Schneiderlin very soon. Do they need some cash?
A lot of players r very talented and there's no doubt that Barkley has talent, but he has to be the right fit for the squad and personally I don't see him being able to bring the quick thinking creative football that we need. At this point we need the best fits for the squad more than the best footballers.Barkley's not been showing much promise this season. But I'm surprised people are suggesting they wouldn't want him "anywhere near the squad". That's crazy!
He's extremely talented and you feel is the ideal kind of guy to respond to Pochettino's methods. Poch has previously said he loves taking on young players and improving them because they are more receptive and have to "unlearn" less. Barkley can on his day perform a Dembele like role. Whether he fulfils early promise however is another thing and the likelihood of us bidding that kind of money is almost zero.
Also, I doubt we'll let Sissoko go so early - he's starting to show how he can perform.
Rumours are a swap deal for Sissoko which is probably wide of the mark but could be a opportunity to mitigate our mistake
Probably is BS, but Sissoko is showing signs of late, and i want to see more of him. Question is who is better when on top form...?[/QUOTE
They both lack intelligence on the pitch, but I guess at least Barkley's got decent technique. Compared to Sissoko he looks comfortable on the ball. They're both powerful runners although for me Barkleys stronger and harder to get off the ball. So if it was a straight choice I'd rather have Barkley and hope he improves his decision making with Experience.
New owner is looking to spend, hence they offered £30m for Sissoko, so I would say not.It seems that Everton are going to sign Schneiderlin very soon. Do they need some cash?
Sure - but not all our players are quick thinkers nor are they creative. Wanyama, Dembele, Sissoko, Dier you could argue are not particularly creative or quick thinkers (like Eriksen, Alli, Lamela or Son) but nonetheless serve an important purpose in our side.A lot of players r very talented and there's no doubt that Barkley has talent, but he has to be the right fit for the squad and personally I don't see him being able to bring the quick thinking creative football that we need. I guess it comes down to how high of a ceiling u believe Barkley has.Sure - but not all our players are quick thinkers nor are they creative. Despite our quick thinkers, we often struggle to break down teams and in fact more recently it's been our pace and direct wing play from Walker and Rose.
I think Barkley, if he were ever to play for Spurs would be deployed in the three behind Kane, and in that context I agree that I'm not sure he would necessarily change our play, rather just offer another option. But what he can do is pass, drive forward and run with and without the ball well.
He's very unlikely to be sold however, and if so unlikely to make it to us. Were he to, Pochettino would make a player out of him.
Yes, fair enough. Barkley is a little overrated and arguably we already have players who could also hit heights for the first team.I guess it comes down to how high of a ceiling u believe Barkley has.
Everything you said that he does passing, runs with and without the ball are all things Barkley is average at and while having that skill set is nice, he doesn't have the brain to use his talent and if u don't have that natural ability it can't be taught. So I don't think Barkley is better than anything we don't already have in house with winks and onomah and even looking a little further down the line Jack roles is a fantastic little player.
I'd also argue that with sissoko and if poch is able to integrate gkn we have plenty of pace and ability to run with the ball, but we lack plenty of cognitive creative attacking ability, as we can only rely on lamela and eriksen to play those sharp passes.
But if poch feels like Barkley is the player he wants buy him and trust the manager.
Agree he needs to be available at the right price not 30 mill quid, cut that in half and id be interested.Yes, fair enough. Barkley is a little overrated and arguably we already have players who could also hit heights for the first team.
But judging a player's potential is clearly tough - scouts, managers and coaches who are professionals will disagree with each other. I think he has a lot to offer, but is overpriced.
Your money?Agree he needs to be available at the right price not 30 mill quid, cut that in half and id be interested.
I'm not afraid I know the club will spend it's money.Your money?
"Spurs flop Sissoko"
Not Sissoko's biggest fan, but he's adapting to a new style of play and has actually looked good in his last two or three appearances. Set up the winning goal in our last game too. Yeah what a flop!
I would take Barkley over Sissoko any day. If you're also saying they are worth the same amount (£30mill - not my estimate of both, but the current going rate), then I would take Barkley. I still think he has the potential to be a fantastic player. And if you say he's not what our team need, then I'd say we definitely need a player who can beat two guys on the edge of the box and shoot, it could be exactly what we need as Christian doesn't always fulfill this role, Lamela hardly ever shoots, Son has his moments, Sissoko should be told not to shoot, Demebele hardly shoots. I think he'd fit in nicely and give us something different in the attacking third.
