@millsey you might disagree(hardly a surprise) but it is different. Comparing a solid 1st reserve that plays a lot, to the guys that go to Chelsea and never play.

27 games last season and 10 so far this season.

He leaves for AFCON after this Tuesday.
If we are serious about a deal to get him, that has to happen before Tuesday. Surely, he won't fly back in middle of the campaign to sign for us, even if Palace agrees to the transfer...

We're not signing him this window.

If I were Zaha, having failed at Man Utd, I would be keen to get one or two more full seasons in the PL, before moving on to a bigger club again. A club like Everton or Southampton could be a good move for him, as it's a step up, but with more guarantee of regular playing time than at any of the better clubs.

Totally different.
Depends on what offers the player has really.. get to a certain stage where you are a back-up & you get an offer to go to another country or join a coach that you respect & can be a first choice & match your wage then he would have to consider it. mid-season is not the best time for either player or Spurs for a move to happen imo.. now the Kolasnic of Schalke is a free agent in summer,, he would be decent competition for Rose & allow us to add more to spent on wages elsewhere.. rumours are he will agree new deal at schalke or join another Bundesliga team (Leverkusen or Gladbach)

He's a row Z for Zaha imo... talent of course he has talent... I wouldn't trust him to produce consistantly

Do we really have room in the squad for Alli, Eriksen, lamela, son, sissoko, gkn, and Zaha?

We'd have two of them not even making matchday squads

I'm just gonna throw this out there for debate: The Chinese are willing to pay obscene money for big name South American footballers. So how would people feel if we sold Lamela for, say, 50 million, bought Zaha for 25 and spent the rest on a CF, or even someone like Isco?

I'd say this would be great business. I stand to be corrected, but I've sensed a seachange in Poch's thinking this season. He wants pace and power in wide areas, hence the purchases of Sissoko, GKN and the interest in Zaha. Son also fits in that category. This leaves Lamela competing with Eriksen and Alli, and I think he'll struggle to displace them personally. And, like Oscar, he may find himself the odd man out in a change of tactical philosophy.

Personally, I think we've missed Lamela. He often sets the tempo for our pressing, works hard and for all his faults is the player who, imo is most likely to play a pass that unlocks a defence out of all our AM.

I think Lamela will get into the starting XI pretty swiftly. As usual.

It seems to me that Walker is benefitting from Lamela not being in the team. Too often last season he was isolated, had sole responsibility for providing width, but now he's able to work in tandem with a player like Sissoko, as Rose is with Son. We've probably scored more goals from crosses this season than we managed all last season.

Lamela's hard work and great attitude is undeniable, but numbers in terms of goals and assists stack up better with Alli and Eriksen.

But if the rumours of Zaha and Barkley are true, one or two players are gonna have to be moved on or the squad becomes bloated, which is bad for morale. Who then will be sold or loaned out in your opinion?

I doubt we'll sign both.

Well there's no way he will ever be first choice here. So he may well want to move
