Watched Zaha yesterday against the Goons, and thought he delivered very little, but so did the rest of his team mates. Not sure if he has the required quality we are seeking and I would rather we looked to spend any money on a decent back up striker for Kane.

No point spending money on any player unless it's either an out and out centre forward who can deputise for Kane or a top top quality attacking midfielder. I doubt we will be able to find either in the January window in any case.

Or unless someone who can improve our starting XI becomes available at a bargain price. I know we've moved on from the days of Harry signing bargains rather than what we actually require, but surely you wouldn't turn down someone like Modric or Vidal, just because they aren't "an out and out centre forward who can deputise for Kane or a top top quality attacking midfielder".

Let's put it a different way... Players want to play at the highest level, and in European competitions. What is the likely hood of him playing CL again should he go to Palace now?

If he weren't playing much I'd agree with you, but 37 games in 1 and a half seasons(quite a few of them in Europe) is a pretty good return for a player playing in a CL teams squad. He might not be automatic first choice but he has seen game time through rotatiob, not just when Rose has been injured. Players nowadays do realise to play for one of the top teams it is about being part of the first team squad not just part of the first choice XI.

If you'd written this last summer Trix I'd agree 100%, but if you look at this season alone it's obvious Poch has made a choice? Rose and Davies looks more and more like Lloris and Vorm now.

Zahas been great this season but stank the Emirates out. I'd rather we try for Gray from Leicester, recall us being in the running or certainly mentioned in the media when he left Brum. If he fills out a bit he can become a top player.

One of the commentators summed him up perfectly... said he's got bundles of talent yet not one manager has been able to get through to him and as a result he's too inconsistent to perform at the highest levels.

Agree that Gray from Leicester is a better talent than Zaha.

If this is the best our scouts can come with than they should be replaced.

What is it that they can't seem to get through to him, @TEESSIDE1? Is this similar to Townsend where he allegedly disregarded all instructions once he crossed the white line?

Remember we were interested in Gray before his Leicester move. Preferred local move.

One would assume so as they highlighted how both Zaha and Townsend failed to support Benteke and/or failed to acknowledge what was going on around them. Both were routed to the spot instead of anticipating what was going to happen. They showed one incident in particular where Benteke laid the ball off thinking Townsend would be there and he was 30 yards away admiring the turf lol

Great goal tonight, that potential is starting to get filled, if we want to snap him up it needs to be in the summer otherwise his price will rocket.

Im only 28! Lol

Thanks for rubbing salt in the wound, you're younger than my kids! :(

EDIT: Just to get this back on topic, I'm not sure we need Zaha. We have enough pace, I think we need an intelligent, creative AM who can find a way through the massed defences that we will increasingly find now we seem to have hit some kind of form.

Zaha was brilliant last night. Only Palace player to be playing consistently well.

Way he played yesterday, I wouldn't be against signing him. I can really see him making an impact on RW with Walker alongside
