Okidoki..

I have cooled off a wee bit.

The obvious thing to all by now should be the weakness of the squad depth and the lack of leadership when things don't go our way. There were glimpses today of that Chel$ea match from last season and the final day debacle at Newcastle, indiscipline, lack of focus and lack of ideas.

We are in need of one or two experienced players who can glue this young side together when things don't go according to plan. We have seen piss poor performances in the CL, the run in last season at Newcastle and against sides that come to fight.

The transfers over the past two seasons have in some cases been quite baffling and wasteful to say the least. For a club that would win the Cup for transfer prudence year in year out, we need to either go all in on a player we need for the first team or promote from within because half our current bench that cost over fifty million quid, couldn't change a light bulb let alone the outcome of a game.

I am all for the philosophy of the club, it's Chairman and Manager, but if these current crop of youngsters cannot see light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to playing the perennial top four or five sides then they like a raft of other great players we have groomed over the years might, just might start to become unsettled and thats something none of us wants to see.

It's all well and good looking at what Poch has put together in two and a half short seasons, but we are desperately in need of some quality signings, and that much was evident today and not for the first time this season.

I've been saying that Wimmer has needed to start since August due to injuries.

Play Dier as DM where he is world class not CB where he is Watford class.

Drop Wanyama. Playing three DMs doesn't work wherever you position them. Or as I shouldn't need to spell out...play 2 of those three DMs as to who is in form.

Dier is not a CB. He is cover for when we don't have a CB. He is a DM. And a bloody good one too.
Sorry, but Wanyama has been our standout player and dropping him to accommodate Dier makes no sense.

How did ManU and Chelsea approach the same fixture? Why didn't we? This has nothing to do with the squad. We could have easily soaked up their pressure and know that they would tire. The problems started in giving the ball away in midfield. With teams like that, you cannot do that. In addition, Son has a tendency to let the goalkeeper set themselves up before he shoots.

Well I did make the point mate.

I even said do I need to spell it out.

I personally believe Dier is better than Wanyama or Dembele at DM. But if he wasn't then he should be dropped. We have three. All are excellent. I believe Wanyama and Dembele are more similar.

I believe as a DM Dier is better at linking attack with defence.

If it doesn't work then change it. But to play 3 DM is a mistake no matter where you put them on the pitch.

The manager should have the guts to put players where they are best unless injuries force you.

Wimmer is a better CB than Dier.

Well, that was piss poor to say the least. I'm disappointed that what we saw today was another repeat of Klopp's blueprint on playing Spurs. Again. And that it worked. Again. Come on Poch, for fucks sake, you have to come up with a way of countering that but it isn't ALL down to Poch.....

The players carry their share of poop for this too. Start turning up for these games, you're better than that. In cricket you'd be called flat track bullies our record against top six teams away from home is abysmal.

The only thing I can say in mitigation is that Rose and Verts are big losses, but even then, they've played in their share of top six awaydays......I don't think we were going to win the title anyway, but its just so irritating seeing us capitulate to them yet again.

Ah well.......sigh.
A&C has a moan about the team rather than the inhabitants of SC in the match thread: I'm now keeping a sharp eye out for the 4 Horsemen Of The Apocalypse. :nailbiting:

I pointed out in the City and Chelsea games how they used a player coming from an offside position to distract our back four and make blind side runs off the weakest full back usually Walker. We got away with it in both games but rode our luck.

We were finally punished today on Liverpool's first goal. This is a definite tactic and one other teams will start to exploit especially those who have quick and clever front runners.

I have also said that MP is very similar to Wenger in that he believes totally in his system and his players. Klopp is another one too.

United and Chelsea have two pragmatic managers in Mourinho and Conte who will set up to defend deep and negatively if needed. They will settle for 0-0 or 1-0 as long as the job is done. They will change to fit the opposition. MP needs to add a little of their personalities to his own game. If not, he will be like his mentor Bielsa and not win an awful lot.

This game could be the making of Poch. Surely now he has learnt he needs to have Plan B primed and ready to put straight into play. And yes Wimmer should have been starting this game

Total lack of respect shown to their wide players with how we played the ball out of defence. Absolute disgrace, further compounded by a poorly-picked bench.

Drop Wimmer, get another winger in the mix until Lamela is fit. Oduwa and Onomah must have something to offer between the two of them.

Mane would have been value for £13m... Vietto... Embolo...

I can't believe we spunked 60 odd million up the wall... Whenever I see us struggle I just think all that could have been mitigated against by using the 60m wisely,

Whenever I see Sissoko I get angry.
People like you keep harping on about price tag. Who would you buy who would want to come to us? You sound like a Manu fan with a false sense of entitlement.

Aggression seems to be the key word here.

I like Son, but when he plays, we lose balls.

Davies? No balls.

Vertonghen, Rose, Lamela- Big balls = Big loss.

I like balls.

Horrible limp performance again, why do we do this against our top 4 rivals? We got off very lucky against City, but today we got our just reward - f all

Whole team gets 0/10 for me, not one of them showed they had a pair of gonads

And our bench need some serious upgrading, no game changers, or even anything remotely close.

Pathetic

I'm sorry this 1 is all on Poch, go toe toe with Liverpool is what they fucking want.

I mean unless you've been living on Mars everybody and his dog knows that you sit off them and pick them off

I mean fucking hell Poch what are you trying to prove?

Very disappointed in the manager today.
