A few words from Matt Le Goblin:

Southampton fan favourite Le Tissier explained why he would let the £55million duo leave the club in five months’ time.

“I always thought this was a strange signing [Sissoko],” Le Tissier told Sky Sports. “He doesn’t strike me as a Tottenham kind of player and hasn’t been a roaring success. I think if they can get a decent ‘chunk’ for him, [the club should] let him go.

“I’d say he [Lamela] has flattered to deceive. I know he has been injured a lot this season but I think he’s just a little bit too flaky. Yes, he’s got ability but I haven’t seen it often enough.”

Since his move from the Magpies, Sissoko has failed to establish himself as a regular in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

He has played 23 games in all competitions, starting nine of those encounters and providing only four assists during that time.

The France international has not started a Premier League game since the 4-1 win at Southampton in December and he has only completed 90 minutes in the league on one occasion this term.

On the other hand, Argentinian Lamela has only played 14 matches in all competitions this term as he has not featured for his side since October because of injury.

During his four years at the London-based club, Lamela has played 121 games, scoring 19 goals and providing 31 assists.

It's amazing how many football pundits, commentators etc fail to see the importance of Lamela to the team and style of play.

I wonder whether we're watching the same games.

Alot of our fans feel that way too. I honestly dont think they've actually watched us play at all. The importance of Lamela was on full display last season. He's on the pitch, and we are brilliant and play very well. But when he came off, we instantly went to shit. His attitude and his work rate are infectious. Not to mention, he's also very creative

What those stats don't tell you is how many key passes he conjours each time. He often assists the assist .

Along with the work rate and passion of a centaur, sorely missed

Thanks. Pretty mediocre although obviously he brings a lot to the team with his effort and transition play.
Not really, it's about 1 score involvement in 3, with 23 of those being sub appearances, which is better than pretty mediocre.

It equates to about 13 goals/assists in a season where a player starts 29 games and is subbed on in 9. That's a good return when you also consider things like his defensive work, work rate and team work that he brings to our game.

So probably our hardest working and best presser is flaky? Not like an English ex-pro to let their own petty xenophobia get in the way of giving an impartial opinion is it...

Did you hear Martin Keown last night? Talking about the Sutton players when tackling they should be going in hard 'because he's the foreigner that's come and taken my place'

Unbelievable, but it's par for the course for MOTD it seems

8 league goals in 85 odd appearances for a wing forward is pretty mediocre. He should be getting that per season
