That's the thing though, they're not questioning it, they've decided with finality that it's a matter of when, and not if.
Same thing on talk sport, Matt Scott (gooner) said literally this about 30 mins ago.
What I've noticed is with most other clubs, since the new TV deal, the medias collective line is that English clubs don't need to sell their best players anymore....however that's quickly forgotten when talking about Spurs re: Kane and Alli.
Playing Devils advocate I suspect it's only because our players are good enough to be linked to the "uber clubs". History tends to suggest that those sides get their targets so it's understandable why the press would think it's a done deal.
Even in my heart I know that if Real came in for Alli it wouldn't be a case of if it would be a case of how much. Teams like real don't care about breaking the bank.
Still not bothered about it though. Real/Barca can't buy every player in the world and no one else could pry them off us.
