"Popular" has nothing to do with Leadership. That's an interesting term but undoubtedly any form of positive "leadership" requires the mutual respect of the team members...otherwise it becomes a dictatorship and to coin an awful media term 'the dressing room is lost'. To me a good captain has to show leadership skills and two of those ingredients are to be popular with your squad and also have the footballing prowess to prove your inclusion in the team is merited on playing ability also. By popular I don't mean an easy touch but more in the manner that Poch handles the players....they love him to bits but they also respect his decisions and usually accept them. 'Leadership' is not really a quality as it can be both good or bad...it is a power given to someone and whether or not they abuse that privilege is their decision. That is why to my mind, with Harry being both popular and skilful he should be given the captaincy in order to enhance and improve his leadership qualities.
Just a thought.....
Yes. But Kane has been injured and hasn't played for England since the Euros.I thought Southgate had talked about Kane as a future captain - but hasn't Cahill worn it in Rooney's absence?
Donald Trump was democratically given leadership over his country...in other words democratically given the right to 'lead' his people.
How are you using Trump to back up your argument?
I'll leave you with this, just to prove how inspirational a leader he is (1:25-1:50):
- He didn't win the popular vote (Hilary Clinton did)
- He has the lowest approval rating of any US president ever (i.e. least popular president ever).
- He is in the process of p*****g off the entire civilised world
I'll be very surprised if Cahill wasn't captain
Good call Krule
