The thing is as Spurs we always expect the same

But ffs ! We finished 3rd last year 2nd this. Why shouldn't we be signing these players have sadly been dismissed by the itk???

It will be very frustrating come august and not added the 2-3 top quality players we need to progress as the others will do. To stay in around title challengers.

It's still early days but we need to be aiming high, no more n'kouda 'a njie, stanbouli types we need quality.

I have to agree we need 2 or 3 quality signings to freshen things up & put pressure on those currently in the pole position. Sad about Lemar, but if he would rather go there & sit on the bench, so be it.

I agree, but teams like Crystal Palace and Wet Spam are paying players more than our highest earners. I don't expect Levy to change his stance much on highest earners or try to sign anyone expecting mega wages.

We're obviously targeting these level of players though. Problems is quality players will inevitably also attract interest from teams who have more resources than us, and when it comes down to the crunch we are never going to be able to offer more of in wages than these teams, which means we will lose out. That's why the new stadium is so important as it allows us to become more competitive in this regard.

£££ I told you :D

The sooner you believe it and set your expectations then the better then you won't be left dissapointed mate. I just don't see why we need a post mortem on here everytime we fail to obtain a target especially when we're up against teams who can blow us out of the water when it comes to paying them?

This ain't the Spurs of old we are now a bloody good team that just needs tweaking a couple of players and we can keep challenging.

New stadium extra revenue coming from everywhere sooner or later we are gonna have to spend 40 m plus and pay 100+m a week or risk being happy finishing 8th get my drift !

It's irrelevant if we offer him 100k a week. Arsenal will offer 150k.

8th? Not really because we've finished 5th, 3rd and 2nd under Pochettino whilst others have spent millions trying to stay competetive. Sooner or later is not now so we're going to have to wait until that extra revenue comes in from the stadium, just be happy with the way we're progressing because we have been exceeding expectations and will continue to do so.

Yeah but you all knew this anyway...you know that we're always going ot find it difficult to aquire players because we don't pay top dollar so why is anyone surprised?

It's almost lke you think we're not geting deals done on purpose.

I don't know why Levy has such a great reputation on deals as compared to Chelsea he is a total novice. They make money off players they don't even play in their first team squad. We should have been speculating on kids like Dembele at Dortmund and Lemar before they end up at big teams. We go for average players like Nike and Nkoudou for around £10 millions when if we spent around £15 million we get much better potential and quality. Those guys were all recommended to Spurs and with just dither and piss people off by with stupid offers. Look at Tielemans gone to Monaco and we will probably want him next year but won't be able to afford him when we could have likely had him this season

maybe because he hasn't got billions of pounds to throw at the project...

lol Chelsea throw millions at young players and have no intention of playing them, that's their transfer M.O and a way to get round FFP, as if you'd compare us to Chelsea in that respect...In fact you cite a team who are absolutely shocking in the transfer market, they're just about to bring in a player they let go because he wasn't deemed good enough for around £70m for God's sake and it's not the first time they've done that.

And what do you think Lemar and Dembele were before they got the game time they needed at Rennes and Caen then, to be as good as they are those guys had to play consistently and build themselves up to the level where they are now, they wouldn't have got that game time at Spurs.

Come on you're just rambling now, none of this really is the reason we missed out on Lemar and why we miss out of some targets, shit happens and in this case as always we move on.

Yeah we'll definitely have to start being happy finishing 8th. That looks like something which is highly likely to start happening. We're definitely much worse than Everton and barely a match for Southampton.

That's a bit harsh!!! I'd like to point out that WE are doing it the right way, I genuinely don't want a Man City/Chelsea oligarch at the helm of OUR club. I find it toxic what the money has done to the supporters attitudes. I'm a Tottenham Hotspur supporter & a fucking proud one!!!!

I wonder if there is a fan on a Dortmund/Monaco/Chelsea fan site slagging their owners off for not buying Bale or Dele when they were cheap as chips?

Chelsea got around FFP by buying a lot of apparently highly thought of young players before FFP actually started. They were then on Chelsea's books when it kicked in. Since then, they have had upwards of 25 players (I think it was 34 last season) out on loan and any sales is included in their football income.

I completely agree, however if the stories about Dembele x 2 and Aubameyang are correct then we've cocked up there.

That said, I'm sure the same story applies for most big teams in europe at one point or another
